Here's another thing I noticed: why do you say that the US bestowed that name upon them? Didn't they call themselves ISIS (islamic state of Iraq and Syria) and later changed it to IS (islamic state).

Automatically thinking everything the media reports is a lie isn't critical thinking.

Also if I was the CIA and I wanted to make a beheading video, I'd just actually behead a dude. Why would the CIA fake a beheading? They kill everyone else, why not one dude in the desert?

I mean, it's the CIA, what fucks do they give?
If their goal is to influence the public, why would they risk having their video discovered as a fake?
They'd just make a real one.

    yeah I think you're correct.

I agreed with the parallel to the red scare because I've seen a bunch of news articles recently basically warning the public of ISIS's recruitment techniques and warning of how easily fellow westerners can be converted to the cause. While this isn't neccessarily untrue I do fear moderate Muslims will be ostracized for something outside their control.

I do think the threat of ISIS is very real to native Syrians and Iraqis and to countries surrounding the area. I think with the funding they are receiving they could potentially be a threat to the west.

I also think the media is being used as a propaganda tool to instigate fear and hatred and whip up support for a US led invasion of the area.

I grew up during the Red Scare. There were missile crisis, invasions, and the constant fear of Russia making the big attack. I went through bomb drills in grade school. All I can say is the Russians never beheaded anyone in the name of Mother Russia. ISIS is far scarier to me.

Dude, you're hard core! The beheadings were faked? I guess the bereaved parents were, too. And all the people who knew them, in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. What about the moon landing? Backlot of Universal Studios? Believe what you want to believe. It's a free country. But pardon me from concluding that it's really you who are seriously out of touch with reality.

They have the same flag as al-Qaeda, and ISIS is nothing more than a regrouped version of al-Qaeda (which is why I called it al-Qaeda 2.0). The name al-Qaeda comes from the name of a CIA database on Mujahideen fighters and translates literally to "the base." So whether "ISIS" (whatever we're supposed to believe that is) came up with the name ISIS, or Snoopy and Charlie Brown came up with the name ISIS, it's fucking irrelevant to me.

ISIS is also, interestingly enough, the name of an ancient Egyptian sun goddess.

What bereaved parents? Watch the video of Mark Foley's brother and sister by Katie Couric just days after their brother supposedly had his head cut off. Probably one of the strangest interviews I've ever seen. You'll notice the sister in particular trying not to laugh several times throughout the video. Seriously, just watch the video and tell me you don't find it rather odd in light off the fact that video analysis proves the Foley video to be a forgery.

ISIS is not the exact same thing as Al quaeda even if they originate from them. I don't understand why you simplify and through that distort things so easily (even if they're 'trivial')... just because you find them irrelevant apparently. So, stating that the US gave ISIS their name while they didn't is irrelevant to you, but the coinicidence that the abbreviatiation of ISIS matches the name of an ancient goddes is not? Curious :p

no offense but this is retarded. I stopped watching the video before I even saw them crack a smile because the annoying narrator kept saying "watch them laugh" when they weren't laughing at all. Just another internet loser making up a conspiracy because because people aren't " grieving properly. "

I had to muffle my laughter during my aunt's funeral because her funeral service featured this really shitty singer. I cracked up after my dad died when the family was receiving guests because my cousin farted. People don't lose the ability to smile and laugh when they grieve.

Pretty much, yes. At least in terms of large-scale global events and how those events are presented to a public that blindly trusts the government and media. When it comes to the government's war propaganda, I have no reason to believe any of it when it is so obviously (to me) contrived and designed to instill fear. Que bono.

Well, actually a lot of people found the video to be odd, and that isn't the only video on YouTube that calls their behavior into question. I did not post that particular video -- CFF did. I guess it all depends on how much you trust what we're being told about what's going on in the world. Fake news is nothing new. And since the Foley video is a forgery, it makes the behavior of the brother and sister even more suspicious. I know it's way out there for most people to wrap their minds around, and I understand that. But there are many reasonably sane people who ask questions that the majority of the public will ridicule because it's outside their paradigm of what the media and government (which are really one and the same) are capable of.

I wasn't calling you an internet loser in case you misunderstood me, you're cool. I was referring to the annoying narrator of the video.

anywho, I understand why people have doubts and questions regarding the beheadings. I just think its silly to take a video of laughing or smiling family members as proof. The only people who could possibly think people in mourning can't laugh or smile are people who have never lost anyone.
