The way to avoid racialist thinking is implied in your very post (2nd bold). Your first sentence also answers the OP's original question appropriately (1st bold).

Still, the problem is that the same people in question present it as a racial issue. As I've stated before... ghetto ass black people go out of their way to establish the fact that they're black.

i'm giving base to the black plight (not to be confused with justifying it) it's intense stuff.historically in many cultures, blacks have it bad.

but, yeah, stereotypes aren't going to change unless they get their acts together in masses. it's the way it is.

even so, sweeping generalizations aren't cool. no one wants to be on the receiving end of a negative stereotype, especially if it's not what he/she is.

    Correction:

Minorities have it bad in most cultures.

Sometimes the majorities also have it bad if those cultures were colonized.

I don't give a shit if I'm on the receiving end of a negative stereotype, because I know that it's not what I am.

...yet at the same time I don't stereotype myself... so it's only obvious.

even within minorities, i'd say generally blacks have it pretty bad comparably.

you can say you are completely indifferent, and i have no way to prove it wrong. i highly doubt it though. proceed to dismiss this, because you don't care.

    In the U.S.?

I'd say Mexicans have it much worse these days, especially new immigrants. MUCH worse.

Japanese immigrants had it extremely bad during WWII.

    ...and yes, I am indifferent.

In the US, South Asia, Latin America. Mexicans have it rough with stereotypes, but so do blacks. It's taking a toll, not only in how they are perceived, but in their education and income....cultural isolation... blacks fall even below hispanics in many cases. Psychological complexes are part of many experts' theories for this underachievement. But, that's enough of that talk.

I'd be disowned in a heartbeat and shunned for the rest of my life if I brought a black dude home.

OP would probably not have an issue with "the blacks" coming into her work if it were a professional-looking black person, for example. Its likely a socioeconomic issue, not a racist issue.

A lot of the cultural isolation is perpetuated by the same blacks. I think that blacks honestly have more opportunity in this country than hispanic immigrants.

Psychological complexes are a cheap excuse.

You do not really represent the average American or the average American family. I'm sure that your family wouldn't react more favorably if you brought any other minority in.

If you live under such extreme prejudice maybe your opinion on the subject of minority's is biased?

To me race is not a very big deal.

As long as your not a Jew that is...

    i think so too.

eh, i don't look at the complexes as excuses... they're just trying to figure out what the hell is wrong and how this can possibly be helped. the more i read into it, the more confusing it gets.

my example was for the typical south asia part. of course my family would have major issues with anyone who isn't paki. but in 99% of the cases (I'm not even exaggerating by much), it'll come up "at least he isn't kala (black)" Black or hindu= ultimate taboo.

I was referring to the typical South Asian family. Sorry for not being clear.
