of course they have the right to asemble and the right to speech! they aren't doing anything wrong by believing something. As soon as they infringe on someone else's rights is where they begin to be illegal. As far as the constitution is concerned a KKK parade is the same as a pride parade.
they can take about hate and have as many rallies they want, i dont care. once they step over the line and start doing something hatefull to someone else then those that did it get put away, you cant restrict ideas, its impossible and immoral no matter the idea.
Wow. No the KKK does not have the right to free speech. It is a harmful organization. The debate surrounding free speech has always been about interference. No one argues that we ought not to moderate speech acts.
i think of it this way: when they're all out there parading and spewing their idiocy they make it easier to find out which ones they are AND reminds people of the fact that these stupid fuckers are still out there and being just as shitty as they were when they were burning crosses and lynching people actively.
I was reading "Freakanomics" the other day, some dude named Stetson had the right idea...mock them. Put their BS out there for kids to pick up and mock. Seemed to work then. http://www.worldhistoryblog.com/2005/12/stetson-kennedy-and-superman-beat-kkk.html
not all of them are. i consider that particularly handy. at any rate, the dumbasses don't seem able to shut their mouths. it's nice to know who to avoid right off the bat rather than get drawn into the beginnings of a friendship with seemingly reasonable people and have them freak the hell out in front of your kids if they see a black person. can you IMAGINE how horrible that is? you have to talk to your kids about the whole thing and apologize for lending credence through the simple fact of having a relationship with someone you didn't yet know was dumb as a bag of hammers and nasty to boot.
I think there mus be at least a few reasonable people in the KKK. I mean, you cant write off the entire group, there has to be at least one redeeming person...
Well they have a lot of outdoor rallies, and they probably eat at them, so I'm sure someone in the KKK can make some mean BBQ
I imagine there are a few reasonable people. They left and joined the real world. That is not the point though, imho. They all have/had decieded to be prejudiced mother fuckers. There is nothing redeeming about any of them.
The KKK had a BBQ, With ribs and cole slaw, And hushpuppies, too! That Southern cooking, sure tastes good, we might hate them niggers, but we love their food! A little history for the uninformed....Slaves invented BBQ. When a hog was butchered on the plantation the slaves were given the innards and, what were considered so at that time, the poorest cuts of meat. Ways were developed to make these pieces tender and tasty. Thus ribs, smoked shoulder, chitlins and other "soul food" was created. I agree. Hatred deserves NO quarter!!! When I was a pre-teen in rural N.C. (early 60s) My buddies and I were on our usual night time summer campout roving adventure. We came upon a Klan meeting in a farmer's field. Scared the shit out of us!!!! All these hooded suckers, a burning cross and lots of torches. The head dickhead was shouting about god, Catholics, foreigners, blacks and saving the white race. WE TOOK OFF FAST!!!!! I'll never forget that night. Zen
