The idea of freedom of speech means freedom of speech for everyone, regardless if you agree with them or not. So yes, the KKK has the right to freedom of speech. They can say whatever they want, they just cannot act on their beliefs.
If it was just a fringe group spouting vitriol and preaching to the choir, of course it wouldn't. If it was a very large, very active, very organised group holding massive rallies in areas with a significant ethnic minority population, then it becomes problematic where fear keeps people from speaking out or organising. In Britain in the 30's, for example, with the British Union of Fascists parading in the Jewish East End of London. It took organised counter-action from anti-fascists to stop minority voices from being drowned there, but elsewhere in Europe, as we know all too painfully, Jewish minorities weren't quite so lucky....
Many of these Nazi and hate groups are government fronts which use such hatemongering to create a public reaction, so the government can then come in with their "solution," which often results in the loss of freedoms for everyone. That's why there are hate crime laws. It has nothing to do with protecting minorities and everything to do with the evisceration of free speech.
No. They are a hate group and have no right to free speech. That's just my opinion Shame on the ACLU for supporting this I agree with a lot of what they do but not this
I find you something of a quandry. On one hand, you condemn a hate group, but on the other hand your sig says hate Islamic fascists. Which is it? x
I think your own sig best answers that question. Zionism is to the Jewish people what Nazis were to the German people. I agree completely. One could make a similar comparison between Islamic fundamentalism (or Islamic fascism) and the wider Muslim population. These dangerous ultra conservative ideologies should be opposed, but opposition to them does not constitute a hatred of the broader culture or people....
yea they most def have the right to say whatever they please but when they start committing acts of violence then we have a problem
Also it's four years old and I was playing around I hate to think about hate to be quite honest with you
I think that they should be allowed to have events, but their events should be restricted in scope, and locality.
If free speech is really free than I should have the right to say "Hi, Jack" to a person I know named Jack if I see him at his workplace. Since he works at the airport, I would go to jail. He must a use a name other than his true first name while he is at work in order to try to prevent this. How the hell is free speech free? In two words, it isn't.
