I want a career change and I have been applying to lots of different places online. I'm open to relocation as well. Sometimes the job opening will stay posted for a couple weeks before it's taken down. So I think I may have applied to the same job twice in a two week period. Just because I have applied to so many that I forget which ones I applied to. Would an employer see this as a bad thing? Would this hurt my chances of getting an interview?
Hello, hmm, I don't know. I would ask what the state of process is if I haven't heard from the potential employer for let's say three weeks. And I have a list of every employer I sent an application to together with all the letters I sent. I plan to make use of this list when I'm back from my sabbatical. If you want to send your application to the same employer a second time you can look up what you told them the first time and build up on that. Regards Gyro
It happens more than most would think it does. I have had people submit their CV, had a referral and a head hunter flag someone to me, all within days of each other.
Probably doesn't do any damage most of the time. Mike Foreman applied eight times before he was finally selected to be an astronaut. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2013/10/05/what-does-it-take-to-become-an-astronaut/2924145/ "Applicants in this latter group are encouraged to reapply. Foreman applied seven times before getting an invitation to interview, only to be rejected. On his eighth try, he again received an interview invitation. "One of the astronauts on the interview panel said, 'Mike, we didn't pick you two years ago, why should we pick you now?'" Foreman recalls. "I laughed and said, 'I don't know, I hope you can find a reason to select me this time.'" Nine months later, the call came: He had been selected."
Hello, the reverse does not seem to be uncommon, too. I got approached from two head hunters of the same company one day . Regards Gyro
Imagine the embarrassment of getting turned down at Denny’s unless they felt you were overqualified....... Master’s Degree, PhD, 6th grade education ……….etc.…. Hotwater
Hello, the good thing was that I just could copy and paste the answer I sent to the first one . Regards Gyro
