What be your point? This is your statement,
Yeah right, like that’s a typical “random” passage from Buddhist literature. More likely would be, “Mokurai had to go outside to see his disciple” and you would have to know the context to know what in the world it was talking about.

what is the context where owning a slave and beating your slave is right?

i dont have a problem with that. im sure copies of the iliad have remained unchanged too, but you dont believe in zeus do you?

i think most scientists agree that darwins observations are what started the science of evolution. if some other scientists came up with something different from his observations please show us.

And I would say that we both know that you are lying with regards to your theological claims.

Got to us? What about people who lived before Timothy was discovered? They didn't need it? God's ways are mysterious? Or maybe it's just an old book which we are still discovering fragments of?

Fundamental to continuing education is this,
the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Olderwater, have you considered the venerable Sri Sathay Sri Baba? Why haven't you commented on this? I should think that if scattered and fragmentary accounts of a few dozen people can move you to accept an Iron Age myth, then you should be whooping with joy at having been relieved of this delusion in light of the full heavenly glory of a God Among Us!

Will you join me in worship of God incarnate? Sri Sathay! Who heals the sick! Sri Sathay! Who walks on water! He who tells us he is Jesus and God and loves us each and all!

Oh happy day, that we need not rely on suspiciously edited ancient texts, but rather on the actual testimony of thousands of living people who have witnessed the inarguable proof that Sri Sathay is Lord of Lords and King of Kings!

I remain breathlessly awaiting your serious reply to this most pressing issue.

olderwaterbrother, one of our disagreements has been on what evidence can be considered "reasonable".

you claimed that testimony of eye witness accounts are reasonable enough for you, so i am also interested in what you have to respond to mr.writers post above.

there are also eye witnesses to joseph smith's golden plates, so by your own logic, you believe him too dont you?

The point being that your attempt to guess the meaning without knowing the context fell short of it's meaning thus proving my point that knowing the context is important, so thanks for proving my point.

ah, but you error in your assumptions concerning what vindicates such claims.
Jesus didn't consider any of those things or any "miracles" as being evidence or proof of who/what he claimed to be.
"only one sign is given to this wicked generation, the sign of Jonah"
so if this guy you're talking about can be crucified and killed and 3 days later come back to life, then maybe he is worthy of further consideration.

NOTE: I am pointing out that Jesus himself said the only thing to vindicate his claims is the resurrection, no more, no less.
I am NOT opening up for debate any of this crap, just pointing out what it says in the actual book.

The love of God is this, that you observe Gods commandments and yet they are not burdensome.
Those not loving God will not inherit the kingdom.
So, you ask, what is the kingdom? It is not within you, it is not in your heart. This prophecy in Daniel 2:44 explains it best.

In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever

Thus, God's kingdom is a government to rule over mankind with Jesus as king. Who better to rule this government than Jesus who has felt the pain of being human and what we have to go thru.

Still less evidence than you would accept when selecting fresh fruit at the grocery store. We are not talking about a resurrection after all; we are talking about a literary account of resurrection which is riddled with mysteries of sourcing, translation, editorialship, et cetera.

Simply put, I expect far, far more from YWHW regarding evidence to believe in him. If he wants to act like a petulant adolescent and have the stance of "Fine, if you don't believe me, then I won't tell you!!" then I am concerned about why this is a god I should want to believe in.

All in all this stinks of bullcrap, it does not have the air of a dialogue between humanity and its creator, it appears to be a dialogue about the divine nature of musty books and their associated mass delusional cults.

But does it? Have you honestly studied the bible? Not just read it but studied it. Cross referencing and deep research into the claims made. You should sit down and read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. 4 accounts of Jesus life and ministry. Also his death and resurrection, 4 accounts, i think it was luke that interviewed people, eyewitnesses. I believe it all. The bible is cool

No attempt was made to guess at the meaning the meaning is plain and I showed it. What meaning did it fall short of?

Some of these are bogus. "Resurrection", to Christians, denotes a permanent victory over death. Attis, Tammuz (aka, Dumuzi), and Adonis, spend part of the year on earth and part in the underworld, obviously connected with the cycle of vegetation. Ishtar (aka, Innana) is part of the same cycle as her husband Tammuz (Dumuzi), returning to the surface when he goes to the netherworld. Same with Persephone. Attis could move a finger, but does that count? Another version of the legend has him transformed into a pine tree. Do we accept that as resurrection? There is no evidence he was considered a dying and rising god until after Jesus. Ra/Horus andOsiris are part of a different cycle. Osiris was lord of the netherworld; Ra/Horus was the living Pharaoh, who became Osiris after death. Isis put Osiris back together again, but he went directly to the netherworld without passing Go. Does reigning in the underworld count? According to Mettinger, who has done the most extensive research on dying and rising gods, there is no evidence of Eshmun being a dying and rising god until 500 years after Jesus, and then it may be borrowing from the Attis cult. There is no record of the Odin "resurrection" before the 6th century C.E., so it may be influenced by the Jesus story. And he didn't really die on the tree. He was later eaten by a wolf and taken to Valhalla. Lemminkainen figures in the Finnish Kalevala, which Elias Lönnrot compiled and embellished in the late 19th century. So my questions are how closely does it correspond to the original legends, and how old were they? The piecing together of Lemminkainen resembles the Egyptian tale of Isis reassembling Osiris, and killing him by a blind man recalls the Scandanavian legend of Balder. I don't know about Ganesha and Bari--the latter being particularly obscure. Are we talking Bari the Korean ancestral shaman and death goddess? She restored people to life with her magic flowers, like the Bible stories about dead people being revived, but it's not resurrection unless it's permanent. Jesus reportedly restored some people to life, but He was the only one who was resurrected in the New Testament accounts. Ganesha was restored to life with an elephant's head. I'd accept that as resurrection. Baal and Melqart (aka Heracles) also seem to be legitimate examples, but the "dying-rising god" thesis has fallen on bad times since Frazer proposed it in 1922. Most scholars consider Frazer to have been refuted long ago, but on atheist websites he has been resurrected and apparently will never die.

Regardless the denotation, where is the permanent living body that demonstrates it?

I love to look up at the sky and see what I see. A mysterious cloud. A unique airplane. A bird glides by. What do you see when you look up into the sky?

clouds in the sky are very pretty things. the blue and the white, they compliment each other. no sky is complete, without both.

what i see usually, is precisely what is there. an atmosphere, which may seem thick and impervious until we realize, that in relation to the dimensions of our planet, it is no thicker then the layer of clear coat, on a fairly sizable model of it.

that all of our lives depend upon it, and that its life given portion, depends entirely upon a reliable sufficiency of living vegetation. which no amount of symbolic currency, can substitute for, nor replace.
