If we're humans, how can we relate to an entity that is beyond human comprehension? Should we praise God, pray to God, worship God--if we can't say whether or not God is good in human terms? If so, why?
she/it/he/they have never been demonstrated to me in any credible manner - science explains the universe adequately yep, I have a well controlled mind alright, facts not myths are what I believe - I don't worry about any supreme force nor am I worried about vampires and such coming after me “The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it.” ― Neil deGrasse Tyson
i don't see the existence of non-physcal things as having anything to do with explaining the universe. therefore the universe being explained adequately, does not in any way exclude their possible existence.
Kings and Queens are not myths. Princes and Princesses are not myths. There are plenty of those on this planet, right? Do people know what makes a king a king or a queen a queen? What makes a president a president? A president is a just king with another name (unless somebody would like to scientifically differentiate the qualities and characteristics of kings and presidents .. prove my statement scientifically wrong). Vampires .. they certainly mean something. They represent something. There's scientific factual truth to be known about what a vampire is and what it means. Some years ago, I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It really does exist. But if people expect there to be an ACTUAL pot of gold, they'll never know what it ACTUALLY is. What makes me so special that I found it? My low IQ, drooling retardation and pathological tendency to believe in things that "science" can't "prove"? lol Science is only one of many, many languages. Scripture is a language. Science is a language. Poetry is a language. Lyric is a language. "myths" are languages. And people translate from one language to another. p.s. Yes, I took a picture of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Sure did. Cuz I like PROOF just as much as anybody else.
Sooooooooooooo, kings and myths therefore Gods actually exist? It that your line of unreasoning or are you just going off on a random tangent?
What's in your head? What's in your head? Zombie Zombie God's in your head. Walking cliché zombies. With your misdirection, circular logic, nonsensical arguments... You're socially triggered, deeply bred tendencies. But you're good workers and even better soldiers. You are the pawns of the human race. You're more likely to chain smoke, and drink heavily, and drive your big new truck to church on Sunday. Live above your means in huge debt but at least you have faith. Slaves to corporations, brands and organizations. Butcher real science and pervert morality. You are the reason the human race is doomed, and only God can judge you, right? Cliché zombies.
And you're such a tool for organized ignorance that there should be a syndrome named after you... Asmodean Syndrome.
Projection. Just because I don't condemn religion as a whole you project that view on me. To me you appear to be just as an intolerant extremist as some of those muslim and christian fundamentalists. You are right and everyone who has an opposite view is a religious retard.
You are entitled to your conviction (of course) and I am not even saying you are wrong in your beliefs about God. They are yours. Other peoples beliefs are theirs. If they share them on here and you come around and piss on them I feel like balancing things out. It's not about what YOU or I believe, but how we treat those who believe differently. Just because a person has a dubious religious belief (according to you) doesn't mean they are stupid or evil or live dubiously by default at all :2thumbsup:
I'm sorry. This is philosophy and religion and I'm asking for facts and logic like some kind of colossal ass. Blissfully ignorant theists are fucking up the planet on a daily basis but I need to just bite my lip and let it all go to shit.
See how judgemental and convicting you are here. So let me seriously ask: the planet is fucked up only/solely by religious people?
They are a large part of the problem, refer to the tendencies listed previously. Even if they were only a small part of the problem, it is their problem that I'm here talking about nonetheless. Don't dismiss one problem because it is not the whole, or redirect to an off topic irrelevant problem. I'm so tired of that tactic.
It's not a tactic at all. You seemed to deliberately put it as if they were the only ones responsible for all the problems on this planet. That looks more like a tactic to me I am just nuancing your rigid stances.
Why are they a large part of the problem? Simple, because they are the majority. Any majority is large part of the problem, whether they are theists, atheists or woodchoppers.
