    Good point.
The faith of the scientists was rewarded by discovery of the Higgs-Bosom (god) particle , confirming parts of the Standard Model within particle physics.
I think people sometimes have an idealistic concept of science. If scientists shared the same view they'd be stopped in their tracks before they had evidence to explore untested theories.

To worship is to keep one in place. It's similar to a planet, fixed in orbit. One who is worshiped is bound. Kept. Fixed.

Religion is based on SPIRIT. And God, of course.

    And you worship god?

Sure, but then anything we create is. Funny how the most spirited people are the least religious! :-D

lol Most theists I meet think god is spirit. Are you saying it's something else?

    Yes, science robot.

    We don't create spirit, silly.

God is Love. God is Peace. God is Spirit. God is endless. God is a word. God is.

You have no hand in the design of your organism. You do have a hand in the tone you keep or how you tune it.

You do this as often as you eat and drink as we come to this world seeking, hard wired to invoke our good.

You'll keep me safe from my folly even though I might not be aware of it? I don't demand your devotion I've just been pointing out you have it!

Done with the concept of god having used it up, to it's fullest, or in passing? In the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god and the word became flesh, what omnipresent absence? You are full of invocations but are you up to your claims?

    ou annou
Not in this group. Who would recognize you save you announce yourself as Dejavu?

A god is love type then.

Are you saying you are a writer?i
Not a newborn but newborn recalling being first aware.

Not at all. I've been saying the same thing in different forms all along. The measure you give is the measure you receive. The apparent discrepancy between what you have suddenly picked up on and what I meant all along is in your linear view of time. If having and being are the same then being is not yet to come even though it is emerging effervescently.
    To being, Dejavu.

Illumination occurs in a flash, the whole room filling with light but it takes time within temporal order to make out the furnishings.

Actually, not me is a statement of opposition.

Law of condition, it takes two, male and female each according to their kind.
Of necessity the call for, implies perceived absence.
The import of this is it cannot be acquired only recognized or accepted as joy overtakes you suddenly.

I don't know all nor am I responsible for anyone's feelings, those belong to their own conceptions, but my response to those I do is to honor or give to them that ask.

I truly do feel sorry for the spiritual/religious delusion people allow themselves over reason.

Me too, happily it is a minority. Most spiritual/religious people I know seem more pragmatic and in tune with reality than yourself. All that hate and rigorous judging and misunderstanding.... sigh! I pity people who are so angry with the world (wether they're theist or atheist, who cares).

    Which is precisely the problem.

People would rather hold hands in ignorance, attempting to accept even that which is wrong, and honestly believe that by claiming the dangerous words of who cares that the problems will magically disappear.

    Who cares?

I do, which is why I would rather be proactive in attempting to stop the violence perpetrated by the delusions religion engenders than to close my eyes in prayer as though that actually accomplishes anything.

If a serial killer claims a devout belief in God, that God was the one who guided his hand in killing, thus not making it murder but the will of God instead, are we to forgive the killer and allow him to roam free with his delusion engendered by religion in the name of tolerance?

Hardly, which is why religion should not be tolerated for all the crimes it commits on a daily basis. Yet, people forgive religion because of a silly notion called God and the silly concept that dangerous religious beliefs should be tolerated.

    It is truly sickening.

How many religious people are serial killers? Case closed ;) :p

I think most people are aware people commit crimes, not religions :p You're taking my 'who cares' out of context, I think on purpose.

I thought you said you were against twisting logic?

If religion does not kill people, take away their beliefs, allow them to become atheists, and see if they still kill in the name of gods.

Like I said, how many religious people kill in the name of gods these days. And how many don't? Could it be those few people who do so have personal issues (like you)?
Why insist it is religion that is to blame when the (very large mind you) majority does not commit such crazy things?
The same thing you project on religious people as a whole could be projected on to you, and really easy as well. You are a hatemonger. Do I blame atheism for that? No, it is your own problem.

Religion allows for theists to twist the logic of morality to fit the way they believe the world should be. Due to the fact that they are deriving their morality from quite the immoral, psychotic god character, it is no wonder that they view their behavior as moral. As long as theists are allowed to think they can get away with an evolved form of bigotry that mirrors the mass killings of the past, then religion will continue to be a problem. In the past, religion informed them that is was okay to kill. In the present, religion informs them that it is okay to prevent other human beings from enjoying the rights of being human. In the present, theists use religion and god as immoral guidance.

Theistic love is nothing more than a cloak to cover the hateful disgust that everyone is not as Christian as them.

Anyone who cannot see the obvious problem with religion has strange ideas about morality.

But not all theists are bad.

    Irrelevant.

The fact that religious faith has left its mark on every aspect of our civilization is not an argument in its favor, nor can any particular faith be exonerated simply because certain of its adherents made fundamental contributions to human culture. ~ Sam Harris.

Life allows people to make up their own morality. Should we stigmatize or end all life?

Oh, but there are people who developed good morals and living good lives! Irrelevant! :D

    Same logic ;)

This does not make sense anyway. If religions do not kill people, why take away those peoples beliefs anyway?
What do you mean 'allow them to become atheists'? We already allow them.

And once again, most do not kill in the name of gods. If you have a problem with those who do then adress those people, not the peaceful majority. This is why your logic remains illogical in essence. I am not twisting your logic, it is twisted on itself.

Dude, get a grip. You're beginning to sound like a nut job!

When you say "As a theological student, I am quite aware of precisely how much damage humanity has done in the name of religion..." does that mean you were actually in seminary, took some theology courses, just read some books, or are going on the basis of your own impressionistic observations?
