This is about the appearance of others themnax, not of ourselves. If you find those to without "soft silkey fur with colorful markings all over our bodies, furry tails, pointy ears and creature like faces" to be unattractive, than I would be dissapointed to see you compliment another human being on their physical appearance.

so, putting your pic in your sig means that you're begging for positive compliments?

And, saying that you'd rather hear nothing at all than insults means I want peope to lie to me?

fuck off. No, really fuck off. How many of you have had people scream insults at you when you were doing nothing but walking? How many of you have had people try to break you down every fucking day because they could? Because until you've dealt with people trying to destroy your self-esteem on a daily basis, you have no right to judge folks for posting a few compliments here and there, trying to build something positive in that persons life. But noooo, we can't spread positivity around, that'd just be ridiculous.

other then as an expected kindness i generaly don't.
however the first post in this thread as i read it clearly implied that it WAS intended to be about ourselves.

if almost everything is supposed to have the exact opposite of its appearant meaning how are we supposed to know and navigate what does and doesn't?

I've been told that too and I like it I like that people find my personality most attractive and I grow on them as oppossed to the opposite. I would rather be full inside and average on the outside :)

Loopy or not.. That made more sense than the people who think honesty works every time..

People really do get cut up about the things they can't change about themselves..

A personility you can work on, although fakeness is so easy to spot that it becomes hard to "create" one out of nothing..

If somebody's personality is ugly, they deserve and need to be told. If somebody is scruffy (Brit talk again!), then I tell them to clean themselves up.. If somebody has a nose that doesn't look right on their face, what good is telling them going to do?

This thread was about ourselves, on that issue you are correct, but it was more on the way we perceive anothers appearance. Too many people here either find every single person they see here to either be extremely cute, or they lie to them.

They deserve and need to be told? You said if somebody is scruffy you suggest how they can look better by telling them to shave. You're saying if somebody can improve themselves physically you'll mention that it's undesirable, but not if it's unable to easily be altered. What if the person likes being scruffy? What if they think it looks good? Don't you think that can hurt their feelings just as much as telling them their nose doesn't look right on their face?

This just goes to show that people are willing to break and bend their own rules depending on how far they are willing to go with the honesty.

Considering I originated this thread, I'm going to choose to take this very personally and be the first to respond. Have I ever had people try to break me down every day because they could? You better believe I have. Grew up in a low income family in a rich neighborhood. Had to leave a school once because so many people were up my ass all the time I started threatening the principal he could put a stop to it or I'd start beating kids asses one after another til they got the point.

I have no right to judge folks for posting a few compliments here and there? You have no right to judge me for posting that I think some of you acting fake then. Insults build character, instill humbleness, and toughen the skin, unless you're a fucking whiny cry baby. Why don't you fuck off. Don't judge what I have to say if you don't like me judging what you have to say. What a fucking joke.

i have, in real life called people ugly, or told them about things that i find unattractive about them. just being honest. i dont' find everyone attractive, some people to me are ugly, but those same people can be gorgeous to the next person. but i've called people out on it.

but its different online - i don't have to see these people, i dont' have to read there threads or posts, i dont' have to look at there pics, i dont' have to do anything that affects me in anyway. which is why i avoid ALL those compliment threads for the most part. in real life, the person is there, right in front of you. its much harder to avoid.

and yes, i've been called ugly, fat, nasty, wierd, whatever. it just makes me realize who i am deep down even more. shit, i had my front tooth broken for the past 4 years and lots of people made negative comments about that...i just fuck you, its your loss if you feel that way. and i moved on.

however, its not like i go out of my way to tell people there ugly, fat or whatever. if insults start flowing, i'll rip you apart. but if you want an honest opinion, i'll tell you the truth (through my eyes), but its not like i'm gonna go out of my way to intentionally hurt your feelings

The power of choice, of individuality.. People attain that either by shunning conformation, or by following a fashion..

With the power of choice usually comes the power of enlightened reasoning.. I've heard some great explanations for a persons uniqueness, and it's helped me be more understanding of those that can't change their appearance...

The explanation of those that have let themselves go physically is mostly a mumbling of how the world has let them down, and when I say "deserve", I mean deserving of the opportunity to get back on track..

Even though I hate this thread.... I'd have to agree with IJ here. But IMO no one is ugly, ugly is harsh... and who is the judge of ugly?

I am one of those people who rarely comment on anyone's photo. The reason is that there are many who I can not comment on as I have my own feelings as to why it is posted and do not feed into that garbage.

I do not comment at all and then avoid then having to comment on the next one posted by someone else who I would not respond to. ;) I would not wish to hurt anyone.

My only exception has been to comment on some of the photos posted of the kids people have put up......probably because I am a mommy and to be honest find kids really hard to resist.........they usually just sparkle and shine. :)

I guess I really hold to them if you have nothing nice to say.........shut up when it comes to peoples appearances.

I guess people feel they know you if they can see you face. I feel people judge too much and don't try to know you if they can see your face and hear your voice. I don't think anyone is ugly but there are some people that acne problems. (I do to especially heat rash lol.) I don't think that anyone wants to be told that they are so ugly that they make you want to vomit. (at least I don't) It's all about comfort zones here. Some people want you to see them and to know them through pictures and others want you to learn them by the personality that exudes online. No way is the best or worst but each way in acceptable.

It takes me 10 minutes to look like me while it takes the people in Hollywood 4 hours sometimes. What chance do I have of looking beautiful like them when they deticate 1/6th of a day to being glamorous and I can't devote that much time. (I get bord easily.) I don't even paint my nails lol.
