You know, I don't believe that the whole thing is so complex, as you say. If you're talking about a book, maybe. But God isn't a book, and He isn't in a book. The Gospel message is really pretty simple, if you ask me-love others as God loves you, if you want to receive mercy you have to give it, give and you'll get back. I'm not on here to try and dismantle anything, and I can't speak for anyone else. I think Protestant Christianity places too much emphasis on a book (the bible) and not enough on WHO the book is about, and on the simple truths of the Gospel-that's the point I'd like to make. And it's true, sometimes people aren't so receptive to someone preaching to them-but when you put those virtues into practice of bearing their burdens, showing them compassion and trying to help them, you might get a lot farther with them than just preaching to them. I personally feel real strongly about that.

Yes I understand what you are saying... and I agree....and generally that is how I am with others around me in "the real world." I try to lead by example and try to show people God through me. But on here it is a different story... all I have is words and most want a debate... especially guys. It is good to have your faith examined and questioned.

And yes the Bible is simple... SO simple that a little kid and read and comprehend... yet it is so complex that it can have scholars baffled. U

 

even if it does eventually happen it wont be soon cause the old Temple has to be rebuilt and right now, The Dome Of The Rock is there. and there is no way any sane person would tear that down right now. that would be suicide. the jews also have to take beack the lands palestine has, and that wont be happening any time soon either.

 

You know... many people did not think the Berlin wall would ever come done... but it did.

The Bible states that before Christ returns there will be a time of peace in the land of Israel. I believe that is when the third temple will be built.

 

Well, they'll be peace in Isreal right about the time hell freezes over, so we have nothing much to worry about, really.

Us heathens will just need to make sure we have warm jackets

Hell will never freeze over... but the there will be peace in the Middle East...

No one thought the Jews would return to Israel... infact many gave up on that prophecy and said "That must be symbolism." Yet, God's word held true, and the Jews reclaimed the land that was once theirs.

And the reason for their return? To stir up commotion... which as you can see... they are doing a good job of.

The Bible has been making new claims? What is written in the Bible has stood the test of time... it is people that have perverted the message. I do not think I am special... I just read the Bible as it is... people back then just did not grasp what God had in mind.

 

Israel is a little sliver of land, about the size of New Jersey... YET it draws the attention of the hold world? Why is that? Where was Israel 100 years ago... not much going on was there? But the Bible stated when the Jews would return Israel would boom.

 

Well, just to comment here: There are a few sound reasons why this is so. Political, observable reasons. There's nothing unusual about it unless we give it that air of mystery. Nations constantly rise and fall in the world's focus. Politics, disagreement, enemies, arguments and war all fuel the attention - or even the neglect of attention, by the world's eye. Just keep this all in mind. Whether you believe God works through the the natural and evidential machinery of this universe is up to you. One could also argue that there is no division between Spirit and Science, be it physical, chemical, or political.

 

Yea, really. And kicking people out of their homes that they've lived in for countless generations. On top of that, most 'Jews' in Israel say that they're atheists. How in the world can you be a Jew and an atheist at the same time? Just ridiculous.

My mom watches soap operas. Some people watch boxing and/or pro wrestling. Why do they do that (figure this out and you will find out why Israel is interesting to certain populations in the world- namely populations that consider it to be of historical (Christians and Muslims) and economical (Jews and Palestinians) interest).

Economically (main reasons): Land bridge from Africa to Asia/Europe, not to mention it's a good staging area for an attack on the Suez Canal (research modern Israeli/ UN involvement in the Suez region).

Historical Value (main): Abrahamic religion originates in this region. People value historical ties to their cultural past.

God's will, of course...

 

Well the point of the matter is when the Bible was written there were no political observable reasons why the Jews would return, even Mark twain stated of Jerusalem in the 1800s "poor Jerusalem never to rise again". Maybe he should of read his Bible. The Bible writes the truth, even when no one at the time could understand how such a thing coud be. Non believers today will try and dismiss the Scriptures by saying it is obvious why the Jews returned. But these same people have forgotten that it's only obvious in the day we live. And was not obvious at all in the time when the Bible was written.

 

Actually the Dome of the Rock does not have to come down because I believe the originall footing for the first Temple is about 103 feet from the Dome of the Rock. Which means the Temple could be constructed without affecting the Dome of the Rock. According to the prophecy the Jews at the time of the end will be getting along with their neighbors and I believe this day is approaching us. According to the prophecy when the Jews are at peace with their neighbors, America will be at a time of increasing tension with a newly formed northern alliance. And our nation will be threatened with war for a period of 2 years. It appears that America will be surrounded by hostile nations that will seek to destroy her. The Bible states that these Northern nations will attack her, and all of Americans cities will burn and her end will come in one hours time. It also states that man and beast will have to flee the land and no one will ever be able to live in the land again. It goes so far as to say no one will even be able to remove a rock from that land to be used as a foundation. The whole story of Americas end can be found in the Scriptures. God states that the people of that land are hard pressed against the Holy God of Israel. O course this is just on part of the picture which will result in the return of Christ.

 

The meaning was political back then too. They were captives of the Romans. Of course they wanted to rise again.

 

Yet the prophecy stated to the jews of that time that this event would come only at the end of time, or in the latter years. So that was of little comfort to the jews of that time.

 

The End Times were considered to be very near by the Jews. Even the Christians felt the same. Right around the corner, just like today.

 

Well what some Jews or Christians may off thought about the end times and what is clearly stated in the Bible are two different things. The Bible stated that Juda whould have to be reoccupied, and that jerusalem would first have to be retaken second.. This event did not happen until 1948, and 1967. And it happened in the order the Bible said it would.
