we see in the mirror one of two things:

what we've been brainwashed into thinking

    OR

the truth as WE see ourselves

Nah, others would still see what one looks like and would still prefer good-looking people. Doesn't really change the society. Plus I would have to put on my make-up blindly. I don't think that would make me look any better :p.

I love mirrors - had a 6' x 4' one above my bed for 20 years; trouble is my eyesight got worse in that time and now it's a little bit blurred w/o glasses. But mirrors are super - you can sometimes not be sure if you're cuming or going -if u know what I mean :sunny:

nice Glen - mine actually went up in 1974 and is still there; while i still own the house I haven't lived there full-time since 1990; now let it for holiday lets and some people come back several times.............

If I had the cash at the time (it's an alcove bed) I would have had mirrors on the three walls too.................

we must be into the same things.........

Maybe you should ask if the world would be better without the people who constantly check the mirror. I like to brush my teeth and not get in car accidents so I personally believe it would be worse.

I understand you need it to drive, but you don't need a mirror to brush your teeth. You only need a mirror to see your teeth after you brush

Mirrors are not the problem. Judgemental, vain people are the problem.

Take away mirrors and we'll still have vapid people judging others based on their physical appearance.

Who needs a mirror when you can look at your face on a reflective surface such as:

    Window glass
    Any body of water
    Any shiny metal

    Yes.

In general. Mirrors to me equal a vanity issue. I for one do not make it a habit to view myself often in the mirror, for one thing it generally brings me down and makes me to think that I don't measure up to the 'media induced vain portrayal of what NORMAL should be. In some cases automobiles may need mirrors for safety purposes, though I feel the visor mirrors serve no purpose, half the time I find that women like to use the rear view mirror to check or apply make up, and in general mirrors are not necessary to be happy as they only show the surface of its image.
