The definition of redneck is an offensive term for a white farm hand in the southern United States, especially one regarded as uneducated or aggressively prejudiced or, an offensive term for somebody who is opposed to liberal social changes, especially somebody regarded as prejudiced. I suppose even though prejudiced, someone may offer reasonable arguments, although prejudice could be considered unreasonable.

 

While I find your theory that rednecks are from the southern united states and white interesting, I can prove both of those things wrong simply by introducing you to many rednecks up here.

Yes, they would fit in with the people in the southern us, but I can promise you that the majority of them have never been more then 50 miles from their birthplace...

Regardless though... even in the southern us, I am almost positive you will find people who are considered rednecks who actually have a brain and use it as something other then a wind block for their ears...

I stopped reading that the moment you said Obama is a muslim because 1. it's asinine, 2. even if he was it shouldn't make a difference, 3. it's asinine. More importantly though, this is why aside from immigrants having to pass the civics part of the citizenship test to get citizenship, Americans should also have to pass it to be allowed to vote.

 

Aidan, dangit you just lost all credibility with that last post. Even if Obama was muslim, which of course he has repeatedly denied, what difference would it make on his governance? Disliking Obama or anyone for that matter for being "muslim" is not a political stance, it's plan prejudice - try to listening to more than just your right-wing radio show you might be able to weave through the right and left bullshit and reach a better conclusion on current happenings.

Repubs could have won last time if McCain hadn't picked that fruit loop for his VP. That pick was so blatant an attempt to get women voters I'd be insulted if I were a woman.
I may not like Biden but at least his pick made some sense as he's known in political circles. Palin is just an idiot, hell she quit being Govenor just to tour and make money, yet she flaunts her title as "Gov. Palin" IMO, if you do not finish your term you lose the title.

Oh, I'd rather have a split govt, it's not good when one party holds everything. Given that I think the Dems will lose some seats but we'll keep Obama. House will probably be Dem but the Senate might go back repub.

People seem to forget Bush and the repubs got us in this mess almost single handedly. Some blame on the dems side no doubt, but for 6 years Bush and the repubs had full control. Look what happened.

I think Obama is doing pretty good considering, he at least appears to care and be trying where as Bush played the part of the all powerful Oz, yet was dumb as a rock.
The problem with Obama is increasing govt size, but to a point if you don't keep the private sector in check you get run away greed, which is what happened under Bush and the repubs.
It's a tough balance, not an easy job and not going to please everyone for sure. Look at our elections, pretty damn close to 50/50 every time around.

 

It's that balance part that's key, and unfortunately, the system is so far out of balance because of the bush years, there is no option but to increase the government size.

People are regulated and controlled by laws all the time, almost everyone agrees that there must be some. The problem is that there has been no, to very little regulation of companies.

Pay the fee, incorporate your company, and things that as an individual you couldn't do, you can now do.

The size of government must increase to overcome the lack of regulation and control of corporations, that has existed for decades and ran rampant under the last bush.

 

Did the repubs blame bush for inaction on Katrina? Hell no. Are they blaming Obama for inaction on the BP spill? Of course. The fuck they want him to do--swim down with a sack 'a corks to plug it? The government has no oil field equipment --it's up to those pricks at BP to to take full responsibility. If repubs are elected AGAIN,we're heading right back to de-regulation and catastrophe. I hope he gets re- elected,but the right wing will again(as always ) resort to lies and dirty tricks. It's traditional.
