Yeah, I would love to look like that. When I was working on just my chest and abs I took this picture of myself.

But, my muscles aren't very big at all.

I don't understand the obsession with muscles.

Sure, I like a nice toned body (who doesn't?) but I hate big muscles.

Razer, you have an almost perfect body (just a little bit too muscley) from what I can see.

No, that picture makes my muscles look better than they are. Those are really subtle muscle tones you can only see in that picture. If I took another picture right now it wouldn't look that good.

It's interesting how you only took a picture of your upper half.

I like the baggier swimsuit shorts on guys...the standard, I guess. Leaves it all up to the imagination! I like that.

It is interesting that men don't seem to want anything to be left to the imagination with women in swimsuits.

And yeah, I took a picture of my chest only because the camera I had was so low quality you couldn't take a large picture. Not to mention I didn't do any work on my leg muscles, which don't show anyway with the type of shorts men can buy.

I find the US perspective of male swimwear to be tragically comic. While the rest of the world embraces practical, comfortable and good-looking male swimwear, the United States resides in some sort of Victorian time warp.

As far as male vs female beauty, the posts in this thread serve to illustrate the perverse nature of the US perspective. Could you imagine where the world of art would be had Michelangelo decided that the male image was “utilitarian” so decided to sculpt David in a pair of “baggies”? Could you imagine the classical world with Psyche and Cupid, except Cupid had on a pair of long pants because “the male anatomy below the waist is soooooo gross, like, gag me with a spoon”…

The current US fashion in long floppy shorts is ridiculous. Swimming in them is like swimming while attached to a tent. Sailing in them is an invitation to snag your stupid inappropriate pants on a shroud or turnbuckle. Trying to put on a wetsuit over them is like trying to stuff a parachute in a backpack. Everyone wearing them looks like they’re ready for the park rather than the beach.

I wear my swimsuit with pride. My wife likes it, her friends find it attractive and I get more than my share of female attention whenever I’m at the beach, which is 5-7 days a week. Of course, I would not wear a swimsuit in the US, as I would not want to offend the prurient sensibilities of the Victorian matrons who dictate fashion. Gee, one more reason, along with violence and arrogant immigration officials, not to visit the US…

If you are wearing a "banana holster" or whatever. YOu better be gay or have a bodybuilder physique. Just my opinion.

I'd better be gay or be a bodybuilder or what? Are you going to bludgeon me with your puritanical parochial attitude? Or did you intend to further pigeon-hole those who don't care to follow the dictates of the fashionistas?

Really, it's absolutely amazing how much of this ultra-conservative attitude towards men's fashion pervades what is an otherwise fairly socially liberal forum. I mean, what's next? The "men's burkha?"

I'm not gay nor am I a body builder. I'm reasonably fit and prefer to wear my swimwear of choice for reasons outlined above. The inability of the wall street resocialized masses to accept this simple fact is an indictment against American culture and its utter intollerance for anything that falls outside the norm established by the fashion industry. Let's hope that this aspect of imperialism continues to fail as it attempts to overtake wiser, more tolerant areas of the globe.

Your post is a product of your mind, which has been seriously warped and perverted by constant exposure to the intolerance, bigotry and violence which are endemic in the area in which you were raised. I can only pity your condition and send you positive energy that you may one day find the enlightenment to transcend your current unfortunate state.

As I stated previously, I dislike visiting the US due to these attitudes and trust me, Texas is last on my places to visit, right after Iran and North Korea.

I agree about Texas. There isnt any wiggle room here. I do not have an unfortunate state though, I just like making funny jokes about everything. There are some rough cowboy types around here and some people wouldnt make it.

i guess women are used to seeing men in shorts.
its unusual to see them in anything less.
whereas it is the norm for girls to wear bikinis.
perhaps if it was the fashion 20 years ago for men to wear speedos then it would be sexier now.

personally i love the male physique as much as the females.
but there is something about male legs that i dont find attractive when on the beach. i think its the light fur that covers them.
in saying that i hate guys that shave their legs. ew.

i dunno... people should wear what they like.
    i do.

Just curious, moonshine, what's the attitude towards men's swimwear in OZ? I'd imagine that Cairns, being an international tourist destination, has a fairly cosmopolitan view. My wife and I are thinking of dropping down there (only about 3 hours from here) for a couple of weeks...

lionman80, your sense of humor is pretty wry, I must admit; you had me convinced for a while that I was addressing a bonna fide redneck.
