I've always collected stuffed animals and still will seek realistic looking plush toys but have recently realized that over the many years of playing with them, each animal has developed its own personality, voice and behavior that both my girlfriend and I encourage and play with. Some of our animals don't get along with each other. Some are intelligent. Some aren't as much =p some are naughty and some are good boys. We have never attempted to create a female character though =\ and both look to them all as our kids. Mind you we also call our fish our kids too. Anybody else do this? =]
My bears are my babies, and they are like 3D cartoon characters. They have a lot to say! I have 6 girls and 4 boys, half polar bears and half grizzlies. If the house catches fire, they get taken out first!
lol... it's a bit odd for sure. but most people have odd things about them. No, I do not talk to my stuffed animals-I do not even have but a couple stuffed animals of my own, and even them I have passed on to my three year old. Anyways, my SON'S (3 yr olds) stuffed animals do have names and personalities. I, um, sometimes make them "talk" to encourage him to try different foods (it works too...lol)...but yea, that's not the same thing as op.
I talk to my dog. She looks at me like I am nuts, if I talked to stuffies she'd probably leave home thinking I had lost it. I don't even really have any sept a few someone gave to me.
Hehe cool, same with me. I have these following animals Ursus - Polar Bear Stompfus - Rhino Stampy - Elephant (small) - he wants to grow big one day Gruffsta Greycliffe - Goat Hunter - Great White Shark Killer - Black Tail Reef Shark Jorganmundr - Python (he's huge) Tsavo - Lion Blaze - Tiger (once small he wanted to be a big tiger so we bought a bigger tiger) Rufus - Dog, big dog. There are more but these are the most playful. I'm looking at getting more lions and maybe a Woolie mammoth. Tsavo is too pretty to really play with. He is the most realistic stuffed animal I've seen. He has a nice mane that people think is real hair, he's beautiful but I need a lion I can play with. I have a Lowenbrau beer lion too but he's not the same lol. I get most my stuff lately from stuffedsafari. They have an awesome looking octopus too xD
When I was a kid our family had a dachshund called Max. Two and a half years before she died my Mom went to a rehab center because she could not walk and none of us could lift her. She had Alzheimer's and could not retain the instructions for how to get up and use a walker. She ended up staying at the nursing home until she died in 2008. Since she was mostly bed bound I tried to decorate her room and window and one thing I bought her was a dachshund stuffed animal that she called "Maxerina" who sat on the window sill. I asked her once if she ever talked to Maxerina and she said she did and that she "did not talk back" (something that I guess we always did as kids). After Mom died I brought Maxerina home and she is in my bedroom. I talk to her sometimes.
That is very sweet. Maxerina would have witnessed many things with your loved one. Maybe you can stare in its eyes and unlock the visions and memories =] I really hope they all move and play and talk when we aren't around to see like toy story, we really do wish this >.>
I don't remember ever having character toys when I was little, I always just had zoo animals. I think I also want a hawk or eagle and maybe some dinosaurs. =]
There are no witnesses, so nothing can be proven. Whenever food is missing in the house, we blame Holly, the mischievous one. Most TV and newspaper cartoons are drawn and written by adults, and most puppets (like on Sesame Street) are designed and operated by adults. What we're doing isn't much different; just for a smaller audience. It's more creative than mindlessly watching TV at night.
My mom used to stuff the turkey at thanksgiving. I would talk to it - "Oh, yes. Get over here you fine looking turkey, I'm taking that leg!"
