Wouldn't Natural selection have been considered paranormal then? What was Darwin afraid of investigating?
Well, no. Evolution was already on the scene when Darwin got popular, there were many theories for the causes of evolution, Darwin (and his buddy that never even gets mentioned anymore) simply theorised that nature would determine who could survive and who would not. It shouldn't seem like I was arguing against myself, I support scientific investigation of anything paranormal or beyond our current mindset, I thought that would come across, so even if natural selection were paranormal then I would be in favor of investigating it. Paranormal usually covers things like telepathy and out of body experiences and people doing weird impossible shit with their brains and bodies.
Darwin was afraid of his partner for the natural selection work going into the paranormal, I don't think he even cosidered investigating it himself. IF YOU WATCHED THE VIDEO (WHICH I DON'T THINK ANYONE HAS DONE) THEN YOU WILL FIND OUT, THIS I WHY I POSTED THE VIDEO, I WANTED A DISCUSSION ABOUT THE VIDEO, I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO EXPLAIN THESE THINGS MYSELF WHEN YOU CAN HEAR IT FROM AN EXPERT.
I'd be cautious about the partner and "pussy" allegations. They have the aroma of urban legends. Fundamentalist think tanks crank out all kinds of crap about Darwin: e.g., he was a Satanist, he converted to Christianity on his death bed and renounced evolution, etc. The fact that his partner and "pussyhood" don't seem to be mentioned in academic literature would suggest to me that somebody may have made them up.
RIGHT, now we're getting somewhere. A lot of crap was perpetuated about Darwin, so is it not possible that this academic literature of which you speak has been altered or some parts dropped out or maybe included depending on the world view? Academic literature is far from gospel.
Right, and in my opinion the gospels are also suspect. I assume that a large part of what I hear and read from any source is false. I do try to read and listen with critical eyes and ears, read from a wide variety of sources, and give weight to scholars who are trained to conduct their research objectively, follow a reasonable methodology, present evidence, cite their sources and have gone through peer review. My faith is that they are likely to be less wrong more of the time than the others.
I would say I have faith. I don't believe in a god/dess, but I still have hope and see reason in living. To me, we're here to live. Not to wait until we die and be judged. There's always something to keep my going- whether it's the animals, the trees, the flowers... a little animistic, I suppose... but, hey, life is :afro:
i have faith in diversity being the nature of reality. that therein lies hope, regardless of ideologies, beliefs, or anything to do with human society.
