Morrowind is easily my favourite game of all time. So much so, I have a Morrowind tattoo and plan on 2 more based from the game. I've been playing it for 10 years and still haven't gotten tired of it. The storyline is so much more complex than Oblivion or Skyrim and I love thaht it's difficult. Seems like a lot of games nowadays hold your hand throughout the whole thing instead of letting you progress in skill along with your character, which is what Morrowind does. You start out getting your ass kicked by mudcrabs, no matter how accurately you think you're clicking the mouse or pressing the button, but your chaaracter eventually gets powerful enough to kill gods! My favourite races to play are Dunmer (Dark Elves), Khajiit, Nords, and Bosmer (Wood Elves). I usually join the Mages Guild, Theives Guild, Morag Tong, and align myself with House Telvanni. I adore talking about this game and can spend hours nerding out and talking strategy, different play styles, quests, etc. And that's not even counting the expansions of Bloodmoon and Tribunal (both of which are excellent and totally worth your time). If you're really bothered by graphics, do a Google search for graphics mods - there are a ton of them out there and they can make the game look like it came out maybe 2 or 3 years ago instead of 11 years ago. But don't deprive yourself of such an awesome game because of something so petty. Personally, I prefer the older graphics (having played it modded and not modded) not only because of the nostalgia factor but because I think it does all gamers good to remember that "quality: graphics in NO WAY equal quality games or gameplay.
^ I remember you! Funny you're first post in years seems to be about morrowind. Righteous too naturally In the playthrough that got me the furthest I aligned myself with house Hlaalu. I played most of the time as an imperial human or as a dunmer because that made the most sense to me to be the incarnate. Same reason why I usually went with a nord human in Skyrim.
with all elder scrolls games, i always go with either a khajit or bosmer thief for my first playthrough, and then a dunmer mage for my second playthrough. since i'm currently on my first playthrough in many years, i'm back to a khajit thief, although this guy is ending up being pretty evenly skilled between stealth and combat skills. also, i've gotten myself into every guild except the mages guild. basically doing imperial guilds first and then shifting toward more native stuff. just joined house hlaalu. actually i'm not in the morag tong yet either, although that is definitely part of the plan. i may even consider working on the main quest at some point, although i haven't yet. i've never played a redoran character. maybe i'll try that after i finish with this guy and do my inevitable mage character. although i feel like a combat based guy would be super boring after being a mage. i've never been a big fan of the tribunal expansion. it's alright for added content, but it's my least favorite part of the overall game. i always loved bloodmoon though, and it should be even more interesting to play it again after having played dragonborn.
The khajit or reptilian characters never appealed to me to play as them myself. I am kind of interested and intrigued in the homeworld of the khajits and if they get to that game with that setting I'll probably love the shit out of it. Well, not sure about that, but it holds a lot of potential me thinks!
i'm intrigued by every province, although i'm more interested in the non-human homelands since they generally each seem to be more unique. i played as an argonian on my very first playthrough ever, and didn't like it at all. i mean, i obviously still loved playing the game, but i was not a fan of my character. i think khajits are the perfect race for stealth characters, especially in the older games where marksman (the bosmer specialty) was less viable and speed and acrobatics actually mattered. it is frustrating not being able to use the boots of blinding speed though.
in morrowind, khajits and argonians can't equip any footwear. i wouldn't even consider them impractical in all situations; you can cover a lot of distance quickly with them as long as it's relatively straight and flat and you don't mind equipping and unequipping them a bunch.
i've been playing this for a couple months now, and i do have one complaint. all these assholes just want to stand in the middle of a doorway and not let anyone through! i don't know how many times i've been stuck either in or out of the vivec mages guild trying desperately to get past that bitch that refuses to move one way or the other. actually, jerkoffs that won't get out of various doorways are all over this game, but the vivec example is by far the most common and most severe instance of it that i've come across so far.
Oh right, about the footwear i would not have thought of that anymore. And yeah, the blocked doorways :-D I do remember that issue...
