I'm a classical pianist. I played a lot of concerts years ago and did about as well as I had in mind for myself. I never intended it to be my sole occupation, and I am glad it never was. After a while I found that concertizing was not very rewarding, and murder on my nerves. I still play pretty much every day for an audience of my neighbors, who frequently stop me in the hallways to say how much they like hearing me play. I stream live online once in a while, but I have to be in the right frame of mind to do that. In school I practiced 7-8 hours a day. I still have the chops, if I say so myself. My sister lives in the house where we grew up, down in Tampa. She told me about a year ago that an elderly woman passing by said that she used to stand outside the house and listen to me play. That was a nice memory to be a part of.
I exaggerated how good I was with the 'mother fucker' bit (cause we all know mother fuckers are good at everything) but yeah I can do it a bit.
I'm one of those people who has played a guitar half his life but never got even reasonably good, lol.
Did try the harmonica, did try the piano, but I play records very well and can find you tube on the computer, great music.
Tried piano and organ years ago. Didn't really like it much, but it made writing easier for me. I quit just when I was starting to become good. Played guitar and bass for years, then quit that for years. I totally forgot the most basic chords when I started back up again in 2000. I told the worship leader I was undecided between a guitar or bass and asked her what she needed in the worship team (which was her and the drummer at that time). She told me that "We really need a bass!" so that's what I got. I later got a guitar, too and started remembering how to use it when other bass players showed up, leaving me an opportunity to use the guitar. Still playing bass for them, though, and they seem to like it. I've noticed that, when guitarists start getting good, they tend to leave. Bass players, too. I don't know why they seem to have no staying power, but an old ministry acquaintance told me that "Musicians are a most temperamental lot." She was right.
That's interesting... I have a friend who can beat box really well. He plays guitar. & for the purposes of this thread, I do as well! I'm just not hoping to make it big or anything. Lol!
my girlfriend says I sound like Oscar the grouch that fell in a blender she don't understand the flow
