    some people collect them

only an idiot would shoot an old gun...they arent designed for todays ammo and the old ammo is unsafe/unreliable sometimes even impossible to find

I have 8 guns in total.

    1 manual stapling gun,
    1 electric stapling gun.
    1 industrial hot glue gun.
    1 pneumatic caulking gun,
    1 manual caulking gun.
    1 silicon gun
And 2 laser guns, modified to align cinema projector optics.

Does that qualify me to wear a cowboy hat. :yum::yum::yum::yum:

I've got a place in Vermont that's been in my family since before I was born. From my late teens I've liked old side by side and over/under shotguns. Any time I'm at a barn sale or estate sale up there I keep my eye out for something interesting. By now the collection of wall hangers is pretty large. Every once in a while I'll fire one of the old flint lock black powder ones, but I'd never put a modern shell in an old Damascus twist style firearm. My buddies say I could reload brass shells for them, but I'd never feel comfortable enough. Some of that old equipment is worth a ridiculous amount of money today. Especially cleaned and oiled like I've kept it. Please don't destroy old firearms, let the manufacturing history go to someone who appreciates it.

I own a handgun for protection at the house, but I've never even fired it. Hopefully, it works if I ever need it.

I bought it because things are crazy in this country right now and I didn't want to wait until it was too late.

mcme---I have a 1913 Springfield double, side by side loaded with double aught. Takes modern loads and absolutely destroys whatever is shot at.

Yes. I build and work on them as a hobby. Have a couple ranges behind my house. Competitive shooting is a fun sport.

My wife and I are competition shooters, collectors and firearm instructors. Between the two of us, we own several dozen guns of all kinds, including half a dozen machine guns. If you think gun collecting isn't a viable investment strategy, consider this. I purchased my one-and-only belt-fed machine gun in 2000 for $6000. Today, it's appraised at $48,000. Let's see you do that reliably with stocks, bonds, or real estate! :grinning:

Concealed carry permit is peace of mind. I'm not as uptight as I used to be before I purchased weapons and got licensed to carry concealed. I did it simply because there's so many that open carry here it's scary, and most of them are young!
