nope. my current income is perfectly sufficient to my current expenses. so i don't NEED more money. i can think of several things i'd like to spend it on, that cost together more then i can afford for all of them at one time. my parents were not rich. i did not grow up dumb enough to consider everything i'd like to have a need.
If I had more money I would easily find something to spend it on (actually I wouldn't even have to look ) but NEED is a big word. I don't need more money. For instance I would be better off with another sound system but my current one is still doing the job for the most part If I had more money every month I could decide to buy a car which would be very handy of course. But do I really need it? No not at this point in my life.
That's why I said I would need to have more money every month But even if I had more money now on a monthly basis I would not spend it on a car at all (rather have a new sound system for instance)!
I'm going to have to spend about £200 on tyres within a few days. Xmas shopping to do too - if it wasn't for that I would not be too badly off at present.
i think anyone that NEEDS more money probably wouldn't be on here. i suppose they might have stopped at the library to post on hipforums as they're starving to death, but it seems unlikely.
I grew up as a have. Didn't realize it and so I have had a cavalier attitude about money. Have it --don't have it--it all works out- for ME. I ran with 2 really poor kids and those guys are now RICH! They deserve what they worked for and their abject poverty drove them to accumulate voraciously. So if some comes my way, I'll take it, but I would probably spend it pretty fast on family.
That raises the question - what is NEED? Subsistence poverty vs. relative poverty. Hate to quote the bible but we don't live by bread alone.
well according to google dictionary, need is to "require something because it is essential or very important." so that leads to the question of what is essential? which the internet defines as absolutely necessary; extremely important. so that wasn't really much help. both "need" and "essential" could be made to mean pretty much anything if given qualifiers, as in "i need eggs IF i'm going to bake this cake." but without qualifiers, i would generally see them as what is required to survive. but then, is survival really essential? that could be debated too.
The problem I see is that survival maybe inessential for the have nots, whilst the haves survive quite nicely. I think though that most people want to survive as long as possible, and actually more than survive.
Surviving generally sucks, thriving is where life is really at. If I spend my money well I don't need a lot of it to thrive nicely.
I have $70 to my name till next Friday and I have to get a tank of gas between now and then. Yes, a bit more would be fantastic. I could use it to go to the chiropractor and get my back fixed. I'd take my cats to the vet. I'd get myself checked for a gallbladder issue to see if I could do something about the pain in my side that I get after eating. I'd pay off my college loans so I could at least start at zero instead of having a negative net worth. I'd pay the $250 in car repairs that need to be done- broken tail light and loud exhaust, both of which could get me pulled over and smacked with a ticket, which would be more money I don't have. As far as my immediate needs, they are all met. I have food, water, shelter, and a job with benefits. I have enough to live from paycheck to paycheck providing nothing happens. The problem is, things are starting to happen...
