I eat too much bread. And yeah I generally make them at home. It's the dutch way. I hate mayo on bread/sandwiches though. Dutch people use mayo on their frites (me too, especially in combination with satay sauce). But as I understand our mayonaise is different than american mayo. So don't diss it before you tried the dutch one with your frites! Anyway, I usually smear some butter on them and put some meat or cheese slices on there. Then fold it. Never buy sliced cheese though. That's for idiots or lazy rich people!
Thinking of this--I very rarely make sandwiches at home. I don't much care for bread--unless it is warm and fresh and crusty. To be enjoyed on its own. Occasionally, I will make a veggie/hummus wrap.
Not sure what you really ordered but I know you were in the south during your last trip. The sandwiches in the northern states are a bit different than the southern ones. Anyway though, the reason I don't know what you mean is because if you got a burger then what did you ask for? If you just asked for a sandwich that could be litteraly anything between two slices of bread.
My favorite sandwich is fresh sliced tomatoes and onions, extra onions and sliced sharp cheese with mayo on wheat bread. Could possibly add avacodo
I can't find any good, affordable gluten free bread, so NO, I don't make sandwiches at home. I haven't had a good sandwich in about 3 years.... :bigcry: But one favorite of mine is one with a little backstory. Years ago me and a work buddy would go to this one little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Well they had a good fried egg and cheese sandwich and a killer BLT. One day I asked if they could combine the two and make me a fried egg and cheese BLT. It was awesome and I would get one about three times a week so they ended up adding it to the menu. friggin good.
Fry some baloney till it's black. Put it on toast with tomato, lettuce and spicy mustard. Best sandwich there is.
Well to me a sandwich is two pieces of SQUARE BREAD. The sandwiches I was supplied with were in hamburger style rolls or buns. I'm really not complaining, I remember all hamburgers in America being awesome I just didn't like the constant smothering of butter on the bread. But you guys make so many awesome home sauces etc. But that's my gripe, that i got a hamburger instead of two pieces of bread.
If all you wanted was bread you gotta ask for just bread. I am a bit surprised plain loaves of bread aren't more available in restaurants myself. It's worse when you want toast and then get Texas toast.
What if you worked in a sandwich shop? Even if you didn't you could also bring sandwich ingredients to work, and make them there.
When I was in Germany, I had a hamburger royale with pommes frittes, beer at McDonald's. Even had a little fork for the fries.
Oh yes.Cheese and pickle, peanut butter and cucumber, ham and mustard.Although there have been lean times when all I've had as a filling was tomato ketchup...
Best sandwiches I ever had are at The Temple Bar Pub in Dublin they have a List with over 100 Different ones ! But Yes i Make sandwiches every morning to eat at Work
Lots of people joke and say do they sell hamburgers in Hamburg? I laugh and say you need to try the Magdeburger in Magdeburg.
well i did say the people down south make sandwiches different, and those kentucky boys are the strangest of the strange.
