It is not something I do anymore on a regular basis but at one time I did so a lot. Now I tend to do it when I am going to be travelling and then I compile what I want to listen to. For the most part I listen to music that I have stored on my computer and I use random shuffle.
well if i was more meticulous i probably wouldn't have 91 playlists. some songs are on several playlists. and i don't always name them appropriately - so that i can remember what's on them. out of those 91, i wonder how many i listen to regularly? maybe less than half. i listen to music a lot. every morning before work, at work, and when i get home pretty much until i get ready for bed. i though "olaylists" was something you could download for a second, haha. well my grooveshark playlists are mostly of music that i don't have stored on my computer. i have a small amount of downloads on my computer, but i figure if i'm at my computer...i might as well stream music from the web - more diversity. for times that i'm away from my computer, like riding my bike to and from work, i listen to my ipod. other times, like camping, we take a CD player, and i have a pretty big collection of those. might have to post a picture of my CD tower now... so if i'm tripping at home - i use grooveshark. if i'm away, i use my ipod or CDs. i mostly only make offline playlists if i'm burning it to a CD. now i'm curious, what makes you prefer an offline playlist when you're tripping? it's just as easy to press play on grooveshark but not if you don't have internet access, so maybe that's why?
Well, I'll admit when I am used to something that works fine I am not one to switch easily So I use winamp and my harddrive for mp3's chronically, always tried to get the right quality. I'm also not really a person that listens music on the move but if I did I definately wouldn't choose cloud storage or streaming music from an online source if i don't have to. It's just that it suits my purposes best. And I've been at friends places where they were strugglin to get the music right because it had to come from their Ipad to their stereo or the internet connection sucks etc. etc. I just think I don't need that shit And I don't trip anymore but when I did I definately made listening music as easy as it could be (and what is easier to load your stored playlist in winamp and go! :biggrin. I would not think of finding out internet sucks at such a moment. But yeah, since I collected music on my harddrive for about 15 years and made so much playlists and subfolders I also don't feel it is easier or more convenient for me to switch to online playlists...
cool, i hear ya. especially about the internet connection. if my connection is bad, i do have some music on my hard drive. only my favorite stuff makes in on there, so i wouldn't have a hard time finding something i like. and popping in a CD is never TOO difficult, even if i'm tripping pretty hard (bands starting Pi- through Y- not shown) i burned a copy of this and sent it to my brother. it only took up less than half the CD, so i also included every song they played the most recent time we saw them in concert: 1/18/2013
That's a helluva lot of c.d.'s. My c.d. collection was stolen years ago so I only have a few now. I'm starting to build it back up for my kids though. I definitely like being able to have multiple ways to play music. helluva lot of dmb and green day up there! Oh I think I spotted Interpol too!
yeah dmb and green day were some of the first CDs i bought. interpol i got for 5 bucks at a used record (and CD) store. there's also a lot of 311 and Built to Spill - 7 CDs each. i have 4 other 311 albums on my computer, and 2 other built to spill albums. not shown is RHCP, sublime, silversun pickups, smashing pumpkins and some other good (and not so good) stuff honorable mention goes to Jimmie's Chicken Shack - one of my favorite, lesser well-known bands.
Korn, Pink Floyd, Matisyahu, Modest Mouse, Phish, Dandy Warhols, Something Unplugged in New York and Everclear. This is fun...more c.d. pics!
they have even prettier music. you should check them out. barnes. proceed to memory. non photo blue. seville. that's one song from each of those CDs, if you are interested in giving them a listen.
