    Hello,

hm, that's interesting. Tell us more about it ;).

That sounds like fun. After reading this book you can't innocently use the vacuum cleaner anymore without thinking about this poor chap mentioned in the book ;).

    Hello,

I don't have shelves at the moment. I have boxes and stacks and more stacks, oh and I have stacks ;). Later this day I might take a photo, if anyone is interested in stacks.

    Do it.

    Regards
    Gyro

I was pretty sure that you were, but in my old age my memory is not what it used to be. I plan to read my complete works of Shakespeare someday. It was a gift and I keep it on my reference/reread bookshelf. I love live performances and movies of anything Shakespeare.

    Hello,

I have several stacks like that. That are the books that I read recently or that I need at hand. Then there are I think 15 moving boxes that are filled with books. They are so heavy they can't be moved anymore. I know in which box a book is, at least for the books I read in the last two or three years. All others are always in the last box I search ;).

    Regards
    Gyro

I can roughly divide my books in 2 parts: the books I got myself (great books :D) and the books that were given to me (almost always wellment but wrong picked). Especially in the epic fantasy genre (which my relatives noticed I was quite into) there is a lot of cliché garbage I got treated to (example: Shannara series) Also got a bunch of lame school books that aren't worth anything anymore. I use them to position my speakers better.

    Hello,

yepp, the boobs thread suggested that. But you know how people are, some think I'm stacked, others think I'm flat chested. People are always unhappy with the things as they are ;).

I sometimes have several books stacked beside my bed, but I would get in trouble for having stacks like that.

15 moving boxes?! Wow, that's a lot if books.:)

I can't make out any titles from your pic.:(

    Hello,

living alone most of the time isn't that bad. I can have stacks of books, even beside my bed ;).

The green one on the top right is about radio astronomy, the greyish one below is a photo book about a journey to the Harz Mountains in 1950, the orange one on the bottom is about physics, the black one is about internal datastructures in the BSD operating system, the pale yellow one on top is a travel book written by Seume (in 1805 he travelled through Scandinavia and Russia). A few years before Seume was sold to England and then shipped to Canada (IIRC) to fight in the American War of Independence. I recommend his writings. The orange book on the top left is The Third Man. The green one an the far left is a book about maps and orientation.

My kind of reading:) Is BSD OS still in use or is that an old book?

Edit: I guess i should have asked if it is still supported.

    Hello,

the book is about 4.3BSD, it's from about 1990. I wouldn't say that the several BSD unices are thriving, but they are alive and there is active development. I know a few current products (which I can't describe more specifically here) that are based on one of the BSDs.

Somewhere I have my (illegal ;-)) xeroxed copy of Lions' Commentary on the Sixth Edition of Unix. If you are into Unix that is still good and interesting stuff to read. What else, hm, travel literature, books about nature, books about old stuff/electronics/radio/physic, modern physics. I'm not so much into SF. Sometimes I post in the reading subforum about the books I read at the moment.

    Regards
    Gyro

It was remade but not by a major hollywood studio it was released as a made-for-TV movie on the Sci-fi Channel back in 2000.

    The movie was a disappointment.:(

    Hello,

55 replies for boots, 80 for books and a winning 165 replies for boobs. No big surprise here. I'm thinking about bringing more variety to this collection of threads...

    Hi,

I would like to finish reading The Paris Wife. It's about Ernest Hemingway's wife when she first met him. I also like the Narnia books. I like lots of different genres though. Also The Time Traveler's Wife was a great book but a horrible movie. There was like no sex in that movie. :(
