no not unless there is motor attached like a snowmobile...but even then i ve never done it much ..i dont like being out in the cold i have a set of cross country skis but havent used them since my mid teen years
Skiing is something that since I was 4 years old I've loved and looked forward to as soon as the weather starts getting cold. I'm 53 years old now, and 28 years ago switched to a snowboard and haven't looked back, but me and my buddies still call it going skiing. My season ticket at a place near my second home in Vermont and the month long road trip a friend and I take out west every year are what my life revolves around. Being in the mountains, no real schedule to follow, and playing in snow all day is something I'll never give up. To bad I need to work to support that habit. I've got a fast boat that makes the summers bearable. 60 days a year FTMFW!
Water skiing yes! Snow! Not a chance! That stuff is cold! Ski! I've slipped a few times in the bugger! Lol
i've always wanted to water ski, never got the chance though. just went tubing (as in behind a boat) for the first time this summer, that's as close as i've gotten.
Went skiing for 20 years ........ Lake Tahoe, Banff, Jasper, Zermatt, Verbier to name just a few. The snow is better in North America, but the weather is nicer in the Alps.
never have. several of my years growing up were in places surrounded by ski lodges and lifts. but all that stuff costs money for something that doesn't interest me enough to spend it on. did own a pair of bear claw snowshoes and went for long walks through deeply snow covered forests on my mountain though. winter olympics interest me more to watch then other forms of athletics, but i have no interest in competing in anything myself. i'd rather watch rotary snow plows on the railroad then either though.
Tried it, didn't care much for it. I am not a winter person though. In fact, if I could sleep December-March, that'd be great.
I live in ski town but no, I don't ski. Mostl because I could never rollerblade properly so I've no confidence in my balance. Or should I say, I could blade and skate, but I couldn't stop, and skis look difficult to stop. I don't want to be a spectacle with arms legs and skis left right and centre when I go down.
^ i think skiing is easier than rollerblading, at least for balance purposes. but yeah, stopping is tricky. i only went the one time, and i never did get stopping down. i would just get to the bottom of the hill and try to coast in a big curve until i slowed to a stop. and of course the one time i stopped by running over all the girls.
I'd give snowboarding a go I guess. I have ample opportunities to do winter sports. Bringing that mead horn from the table to my mouth and down again, seems to be good exercise of mine.
Slipped on my arse a few times, but doing it for real? I would probably have a go at skate boarding! But not too high up the hill! Lol
I only went skiing a few times when I was a teenager. It was fun but I really sucked at it so I never went back to it. I'd kinda like to try it again now though.
