Johnny Cash was amazing. I heard this on the car radio one day and laughed so hard I had to pull over.
That song is so good. I watched one of his documentaries years ago. He would not give up on his now wife. It was very good too!
Is it country or is it rock? Funny thing is... this song predates the first "rock" song (Rocket 88) by four years. And predates "Rock Around the Clock" by seven years!
Years ago, I had a wife who didn't like my Irish music; thought it too sad. She liked Country. Worked a job where someone brought a 50 lb. boom box to the site, and blared Country music all day. This is essential listening. With "You Never Even Called Be By My Name", "A Country Boy Can Survive" and "I've Been Everywhere" you can establish rapport with any country music fan alive.
Irish or Scottish country for sure. American country has to be pre 2005 for the most part really pre 9-11. Johnny Cash is a legend far as I'm concerned as is Weylon Jennings For a few fine Scotch-Irish "country" bands Young Dubliners CuLann's Hounds Old Blind Dogs Darby O'Gill
