do you like books or beer?

i like to drink beer and throw books

 

well, since beer tastes like fermented gymsocks to me, I picked books.

 

books! any damd day of the week. beer is friggin boring.

maybe if i was more socially inclined, beer with people might be ok.
but even then, having to fog up my mind, and sacrafice my imagination in order to be with them, well i'm sorry but i just can't see it.

of course a lot of people who WRITE some of the kinds of books i like to read seem to get along just fine with both, or claim to.

and there are books and there are books. mainstream crap is crap.
but books that make you think. speculative fiction and useful information about how tecnologies actually work. about how to actually do creative things with them,

i just can't see what the hell attraction empairing one's judgement (and with it, yes believe it or not, any kind of REAL imagination) has, that comes anywhere near it; the real gratification of creating and exploring.

its the difference between hiding from your own mostly harmless and well meaning self, which is what empairing your judgement is, or actually persuing real gratification, which is what creating and exploring are.

and you can do the latter a hell of a lot better with books then with beer, or any other recreationally consumed neurotropic substance.

where as the former, hiding from your own gratification, is the only thing i hae ever seen anesthisizing yourself do for anyone. myself included.

All the beer ive ever tasted tasted how i imagine pee thats been sitting in those test tubes for days and days and has had some rusty nails dipped in it must taste. Maybe a bit of apple peel too sometimes. And some fizz. Anyway, it aint pleasant. And ive tried a lot of beer, i gave it a fair chance

And its rare for me to be without books

ah yes, that too, the so called 'flavour'. there are other forms of alcohaul less offencive to the tounge and stomic. but once they've been explored, that's all the more gratification there is to them either.

now i've got to admit, a room full of people smoking the erb, smells a hell of a lot nicer then any gin mill. i wish to god they'd legalize that stuff so people could use it to get off of booze and tobacco.
