Or does it matter to you? Do you find it attractive if a guy gets his hands dirty, or do you see him as a lowly laborer?
This song instantly came to mind when I read the title of this thread. I'm usually more attracted to blue collar guys. I like a guy who's not afraid to get dirty and isn't afraid of a little hard work. I don't find men in suits attractive at all. http://youtu.be/VX59c8n3ifY
Now, what about this? What about the owner of a construction company that might wear a collared shirt but now he runs the company? You could probably assume he USED to get his hands dirty. Is he more attractive than the laborers?
When I'm with a guy, I'm not thinking about what he does for a living, unless he's obsessed with talking about it. I care more about what he's like with women.
Interesting, intelligent, fun, nice. I tend to have more common interests with the white collar guys, but stereotypes can lead a person to overlook opportunities. Every pattern has exceptions. My husband knows a guy at work who has a manual labor job and has loved classical music since early childhood. He has a vast classical CD collection.
I agree with Karen. It really is more about what the person is like verses what they do for a living. But if we are speaking purely on appearance I tend to find guys who are a little rough around the edges more attractive than men that are polished. I'm married so its not like I'm out there looking. My husband used to do manual labor but now has an office job within the same company. Now that he has an office job he has grown a beard which seems a little backwards but for sanitation reasons he wasnt allowed to have a beard when he worked on the manufacturing floor. Beards are sexy.
Some women can. hahaha. Nah, i dont know what it is. I just find it sexy. It's manly and rugged. I like it.
I dont care what someone does for a living but I do love a man who can work with his hands. If a guy works in an office but knows how to work on cars, shingle a roof or build furniture from scratch, all the better. I also like the type of guy Karen mentioned, the manual labor who is well read and has an interest in arts and culture.
There are all kinds of ways to get there. Last year, we knew somebody who was moving to a new apartment, and my husband helped load up their stuff. Everybody was amazed at how much he could lift. He has an office job. For me, the guys who are out of contention, regardless of job title: jerks, superficial assholes, shallow idiots, ego-maniacs, control freaks, sexists, abusers of women. Almost everybody else has a fair shot, or would have, when I was on the market. Rule number one: just don't let testosterone run your entire life. Edit: Have to add the religious crowd to my reject list.
who says white collar guys are afraid of those things? lots of people have interests outside of their job description. i'm sure they don't mind, since everything on your reject list is what a vast majority of women seek out in a man.
