...... Seriously. I am thinking of opening an E. Bay account to try and sell some of my stuff, but am very wary about doing so. Any thoughts or warnings or whatever in respect of using E. Bay would be most appreciated. In the meantime recently I received the below warning from a friend of mine: Warning about eBay Kenny. Be very careful what you buy on eBay. If you do buy stuff on eBay, check out the seller carefully. A friend in the UK has just spent £95 plus VAT on a penis enlarger. The bastards sent him a magnifying glass! The only the instructions were: 'Do not use in sunlight!' ...
LOL. I have used Ebay for years. I know loads of folks that sell. DO NOT use the auction bidding. It is usually crap. Name your price and ask for the nearest offer. Although, it is far easier to sell on Gumtree.
Thank you for your sound advice Gal. I haven’t heard much about Gumtree, but I will look into what you say.. .......
Thanks for that Gal. I will sign up later and take it from there. You'r a star! Any more advice or general thoughts in respect of using E. Bay would be appreciated though.
The best one that I came across about 25 years ago, was the internet advert that stated. For £5, I will send you my guaranteed method of earning £1,000 in he first month without doing more than 30 minutes work. Written proof will be included with all orders, Replies will be despatched within 28 days. 28 days later, the package arrived. It was a pile of copied bank statements adding up to more than £1.000 in £5 credits. To add insult to injury, the guy had highlighted the victims payment. Despite reporting the matter to the police, trading standards and speaking to a lawyer, they all agreed that the guy had not committed any crime.
I went to Craigslist to sell my PS3 Console. I think there's a UK Craigslist too; the drawback being it's all very informal. The best you could do would be to set up PayPal so that they can mitigate issues of payment. I sold my PS3 and the guy came to my house, paid cash, took it to his house & hooked it up to the TV, then said that it wouldn't play BluRay. I then drove over to his house, gave him his money back, and asked him if he'd consider keeping it for a discount. I ended up with $30 or so and since PS3 is a legacy (old) system, it wasn't a total loss. Anyway, the reason I chose Craigslist over Ebay is because Ebay charges you every time you sell something. Craigslist doesn't do that. Again, there are cons to Craigslist, and pros to Ebay. If you don't mind the seller fee, Ebay takes good care of you. You won't be dealing with pesky returns if you decide not to offer them.*
I'll warn everybody about selling anything on ebay especially if they use paypal as payment method. I did it a while back and sold all the stuff I had to sell within a week, shipped the items off to their recipieants, then got a warning mail from ebay tat one of the byers was a known fraud, who buys items pay then do a dispute to get a refund from paypal, and that was exactly what happened but on top of that paypal had frozen my entir account. The dispute claimed that I had not sent the items, so I provided evidence to paypal of the shipment of all my products, but never heard from them again untill I got a mail saying my account had been closed. I lost $ 50.000 and all my products I have never since then used paypal nor ebay.
Blinkin’ Heck Lion. Now THAT is a warning if ever there was one! $50,000 scammed out of which is a lot of money in anyones book, and I hope you are sort of ‘over’ that particular ‘hit' now. ....
Yeah I'm over it, now but still doesn't trust neither company. I considered a lawsuit, but the attorney I spoke with told me that paypal recieves more than 70.000 lawsuits a year and so far non of them has ever gone to court because they use the clever tactics of changing lawyers every time it comes to that, and that way they can keep on postponing it for ever, or at least so it apears.
Yeah I know a lot of people who has had the same experience as me, but they'll survive, because of their size and
