I'm not talking about food crops or Marijuana. I'm talking about something strictly ornamental. What's your favorite? Does it grow well in your area? Are you growing it?
What's your favorite? Stargazer Lily Does it grow well in your area? Yes, only in the summer. Are you growing it? I will be
That's beautiful! I have some yellow lilies that a roommate of my daughter pulled up by the roots. A few years ago I brought them to my house and saved them.
Lilies are Misty's favorite too. I will be planting many of them in our back lot line for many years to come. All different types and colors.
That will be gorgeous! My neighbor has a lily bed. Hers are mixed. There is a light pink lily that I want to get.
I love Hosta but the Shrews killed so many of mine... Now, I have only 3 big potted Hosta. The Shrews don't get to them when I pot them. I did managed to save the one that my now deceased sister-in-law gave me out of her yard. They are bolting/blooming right now.
I used to think these were pretty. These days I'm more about daisies... They are called passion flowers. I'm not growing them, but they do well in Southern California's climate (I've seen them several places).
We call the May Pops. They grow in the wild places like the side of the road. I love them, too. When I was a girl I thought they looked like ballerinas.
We used to have them growing up the front of my Mum's house on a vine. We call them Passion flowers or Passiflora. The 'Passion' here refers to the passion of Jesus in Christian theology. The structure of the flower parts are symbols of the crucifixion of Jesus.
As far as green plants go, I also love Fern. I had about 10 planted in my yard that my former husband dug up from the area by the creek. Having to take in my son's dog, and my daughter's dog, got most of them trampled. I have a few left but they aren't what they use to be.
The southern magnolia tree has large fragrant flowers along with decorative shiny leaves that stay on year round. Even the wood is beautiful and high quality. There are some in my area and I tried growing it from seed, but without success yet.
If trees are allowed in the discussion, I vote Italian Cypress trees. They are more like green spires than trees. They grow tall and narrow so you can cram them in limited space.
