I have to do this because I'm OCD about it, but also because I live alone and I'm paranoid about getting locked out. I've got locked out a couple of times by taking the wrong set of keys, sometimes forgotten my vape and had to buy tobacco, or taken it out without having charged it enough, but I don't think I've left my phone behind that I can remember. Occasionally my wallet, and then it's the classic "oh sorry mate I forgot my wallet. Could you get the drinks?" 1. Keys 2. Phone 3. Wallet 4. Vape + liquid (used to be tobacco + papers + filters + lighter) 5. Mask (new for this year obviously)
My checklist: 1. Grab wallet and keys 2. Don't forget my wallet again when I turn around and drive back to get my sunglasses.
Not for day to day stuff like shopping etc but because I live in a bushfire prone area I have a "Go' bag packed with torch, spare phone, medicine,,clothes, muesli bars, water, etcc and I have emergency checklist on the fridge. Cheer's
The only thing that I used to worry about was keys, so I removed the cylinder lock, so that I only use the mortice lock that requires a key to lock it from the outside when I leave. The only problem was the day that I went out leaving Jane in the shower. She had left her keys at our daughters house, so she was locked in the house all day. Having lived without a mobile phone for the first 30 years of my life, being without it for a few hours is not a problem. I have never owned a wallet and rely on a single debit card for all my shopping. I also see no need to carry cash, since everyone accepts cards in London these days. Fortunately, up to now, I have remembered to take a mask when I am using public transport. The one thing that people still laugh about was the day that I had to go to a meeting in the city. Everything was fine until I arrived at the top London hotel wearing my best suit and the tie that Jane had selected for me, got out of the car and suddenly realized, Whoops, no shoes. Fortunately everyone knew me, so they hardly noticed my bright blue bedroom slippers.
You just made me laugh; remembering the day that Jane had so much rubbish in her handbag, including tea bags and a pint of milk, so since she was also taking a blanket to our daughters house for her friend who was staying overnight, she transferred the whole lot into a holdall. She thought that the bag was heavy, so when she arrived, Christina took it in from her car and Jane told her to remove the blanket, so that she did not forget and take it home again. As she opened the holdall our dozy cat jumped out.
I am quite well organised . A spare house key is kept in the car and duplicate keys are kept with my mother in law .
vatch, valit, specticals, testicals. actually just make sure i have my keys to get back in, bus pass, i.d., and debit card if i'm going to buy anything, which is almost the only reason i leave the house any more. there's also a small amount of cash, but that was for fast food which they don't have sit down, only take out, anymore until the plague dies down, so its there but doesn't get spent. i also check that my fly is zipped, because that actually is possible, along with obviously embarassing, to forget. also two or more pocket handkerchiefs in my pants pockets. and now a days that i'm wearing my m-95 so i don't inconsiderately make everyone else sick.
Wallet, keys, prescription sunglasses, mints, lip balm, my mask...I actually carry like 5 of them, I don't know why, I just keep collecting them. They're like accessories now.
Before I leave: - Check faucets to make sure they don't leak. - Check cooking plates to make sure they're not on (fire hazard). - Check fridge doors to make sure they're closed. - Check that I'm carrying house/car keys, wallet w/ cash, cards & rubbers, phone, lighter, Swiss army knife. Then it's rock 'n roll time.
