I haul shit all the time. As far as a ride, its the most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned. I'm a bit arthritic so its hard for me to squeeze into a car. Its easier for me to climb up that sit down in.
Not yet, its got 91K on it. Had to change a bearing on the passenger side at 80K. Thats miles not kilometers. Done the breaks once, other than that it's been troublefree.
We likely live in a similar setting - hick town. And I must agree, a truck is great if practical, but I get peeved when I see some white collar jackass in a monster truck.
I have a Silverado, and its a good little truck. Its comfortable, practical, and gets decent gas mileage. I walk everywhere in town, hate driving, but when I have to drive I really need a truck. We live in cow country, so a car just isn't logical...esp. when I take the dogs running and my lab decides she NEEDS to roll in a pile of cow or horse shit.
trucks are fucking annoying in this city with lots of narrow roads. Nothing is more annoying than the lone woman in a Ford Expedition talking on her cell phone all seriously and shit and as far as 4WD goes, I drive a subaru
I like trucks and SUVs, I drive a GMC Envoy which I love. It is a nice riding vehicle and has great towing capacities, which is primarily why I bought it. I also like it because because I can keep a lot of stuff in the back and do not have to worry about it being ripped off. My alternate vehicle is a Chevy Cobalt which is much better on gas but lacks all of the above.
The motor blew in my truck a couple months ago, and I'm saving for a new motor. It's easy to make quick money with side jobs when I have my truck. Like right now I'm building a privacy fence, deck, and large retaining wall.... and I'm having to borrow my friends truck everyday.
Trucks are fine. There's a lot of douchebags who drive them.... But I'd happily drive a large truck. I'd also happily drive a small japanese truck, those are awesome. Why would I hate? They have their place..... A loooong way behind my small gas guzzling car :2thumbsup:
Hate 'em? Our only vehicle is a second generation Dodge Ram club cab with four wheel drive. It's often used as a truck, but not so often that we use more than about twenty gallons of gas in the typical month. We don't often fill the tank to the top because the fuel would be stale before we used it all, and there's no sense abusing the engine that way. I'd have to do a lot more driving than I do to justify consuming the materials that would be used to build a more fuel efficient vehicle. All of that mining and refining and material movement has an environmental cost, too.
Yeah, it might as well be a truck. it can fit 4x8 plywood/drywall in the back and it's super wide. It is sitting in the tow yard right now waiting on the insurance person to assess the damage on monday. My wife tried to take it too fast around some curve and slid it underneath a semi truck coming the opposite direction and tore up the front corner... IT's still completely drivable.. only needs a turn signal housing to be legal.
I love trucks. Diesel trucks are the best. I haul people and material so it is a good choice. I don't have any problem towing 12,500 lbs. Off road is a dream with the four wheel drive. It is great for city and farm. Haul hay, no problem. Tow a tractor, no problem. Tow a dump trailer, no problem. Trucks provide limitless transportation possibilities. Diesel is an easier cut to get in the refining process. It takes less energy to make and diesel and a diesel engine is the most effiicient internal combustion engine. Good news for me
I almost got rear ended last week by some **** with a cell phone in her left hand and a cigarette in her right
Diesel trucks are the shit. My cousin has an old gmc that he converted to using bio-diesal.He goes around to fast food joints, offering to take their leftover cooking grease. More often the not, for free. Then he uses some next level chemistry shit to turn it into diesel. If your truck is sparkling clean and doesn't haul more then the weeks groceries, you may compensation issues.
