Personally, I prefer the look of well-tanned, dirty, rugged bare feet over immaculately clean and/or plain white ones that have rarely seen the light of day. There's just something very natural and attractive about tanned, dirty feet. Part of that appeal could be due to how rare it is to see someone with dirty or rugged looking feet in our modern world, where cleanliness is heavily emphasized and expected. Dirt also adds more character to the feet, highlighting their details, and telling a story of where they traveled and what conditions they have endured. I enjoy letting my feet stay dirty from walks, yard work, gardening and skateboarding in daily life, and then comfortably venture out into public as they are. Feet do a decent enough job of keeping themselves relatively clean through the friction of walking. Time at the beach, or a walk after it rains naturally gets them more "cleaned up". So I go everywhere with dirty feet. How about you?
I pay no attention really. I’m not into dirty feet. Mine or anybody else’s. In the final analysis I am not “into feet at all.” I am into going barefoot. Big difference.
I don't consider myself "into feet" either. Feet are just feet. It's just interesting to see feet that stand out from the rest due to years of barefooting. I've only seen pictures of such feet on the Internet (for example: wilderness survival instructor Cody Lundin's feet), since it seems that no one else goes barefoot up North here.
It is hard not to get dirty soles after just a few steps barefoot. Mine are visible more cause I am going around by cycle mostly .
You said in another post that you are at 41 degrees north. That isn't that far north. Where exactly do you live? I live in Iowa, which is at 41 degrees north. It is hot here...definitely barefoot time.
Northwest Ohio area. It's cold enough here 6 months of the year that most folks wear socks and shoes. I've noticed many tend to over-bundle up with heavy coats, hats, gloves and scarves when it's only 55 degrees outside. It's totally ridiculous. There are very few of us who continue to wear shorts into the cold months or dress just warm enough for the weather. Yeah you are 41 degrees north, but do not have "lake effect" weather and high humidity in Iowa. It's the lakes and humidity here that makes the cold feel much colder. It's been very hot here too. Low 90's. Excellent barefoot weather, and great for strengthening the feet on scorching hot pavement.
Yeah I went into a Morrisons yesterday without realising how muddy my feet were - had been hiking in the Peak District and didn’t really look before going in. I try and keep them clean as I think you’d be more likely to have problems in stores with dirty feet but no issues this time. They get filthy with dust if it hasn’t rained for a while and you’re walking through urban areas, can’t do much about that and no point washing them until you get home
It gets VERY humid here in summer. Maybe not so much in winter...but it does get below zero. I wear boots in winter.
It gets below zero in winter here too. Depending upon the weather and precipitation in winter, I rough it with the flimsy barefoot sandals paired with thick wool Injinji toe socks. If it's too wet or in the teens, I'll reluctantly don barefoot shoes with socks. Boots are absolute last resort and only worn if there is 3+ inches of snow on the ground and/or single- or below-zero temps.
I do go out with my feet dirty, yes. Outside work I’m barefoot everywhere more and more these days and after a shower they quickly end up dirty again. They could just get a bit grubby or very black, depends where I’ve been. If I’m being lazy I will go out again with my feet already dirty from the previous day. For example, today I went out for a coffee, to a hardware store, and collected a parcel at the post office, also sat at the beach for a couple of hours. Plus my apartment/balcony has tiled floors which don’t stay clean for long. My soles are pretty black just from those few things - this is an average sort of day if I’m not at work. Planning on going shopping tomorrow, walk into town to the market, maybe a mall too, also grocery shopping - tomorrow will definitely be a dirtier day. It’s a big part of going barefoot. I have to say I don’t mind the dirt - I quite like seeing how dirty they get going different places.
Yep, same here. Aside from just getting wet in the shower, I never actually wash my feet. Some dirt always manages to stay on, but they get dirtier again soon, sometimes jet black. I think it loos pretty cool.
No, I don't mind going out with dirty feet If I am barefoot, of course the feet get dirty. I just try to be as respectful as possible to other people and don't put my feet in front of their faces which I also would not do (or expect somebody else doing) when wearing shoes. For example, when I am barefoot in public, I try to avoid putting my ankle on my knee when sitting down somewhere while somebody else is close. Or I would also never put my feet on another seat when in public transports.
I went to my doc barefoot and then to have an ekg. I jumped on the stretcher black soles and ankle bracelets and all both times. to the doc i had to put down pants and i was wearing no underpants
I tend toward the natural, and barefoot and tanned fits my style. 023 by goodearth posted Jan 28, 2013 at 7:50 PM
When I leave the house my feet are clean. Depending on where I am going and what I get up to I'll come home in varying degrees of dirty. I always clean up before I head back inside.
