My late mother worked at a hotel in her younger days. One of her jobs was to take the guests bets to the bookmaker every day, but she simply kept the money instead. Needless to say, she had to pay out any winnings, but the surplus more than doubled her salary at the end of the year. Conclusive proof that the only winner in gambling is the casino or bookmaker.
so she just cut out the bookmaker completely and did the bookmaking herself? i assume this was just done with a small percentage of guests? it seems like it would be really suspicious if one employee just had no betting income.
I Take A Small Card Of Lotto On Monday, Wednesday And Saturday, Been Doing It For Years But Now I'm Giving Serious Thought To Stopping...... Cheers Glen.
It was just a small country hotel back in the 1930s. My mother was the cashier and she used to take the bets to the bookmaker and collect the previous days winnings when she went to the bank every lunchtime. When she realized that she was delivering far more money than she collected, she decided to run it herself. If a customer put a large bet on, she would let the bookmaker take the risk.
I've only ever gambled at an actually casino one time. I've only bought a scratcher once. I don't consider gambling as a sin. I never really got into gambling. I have purposely not gotten it for not wanting to risk beginning addicted to it.
I used to play Texas Hold'em for pennies with friends. We had a green baize and proper chips. I read a couple of books on it and got pretty good. But I've never played for high stakes.
done lotto/powerball a few times, won small amounts. As for real Gambling, hell no. I have enough hobbies to spend on without blowing it all away trying to hit it big. lol
Still have to wait another year and a half for Wynn Boston Harbor to be completed but when it does the 2.5 Billion dollar casino will be packed with slots and gaming tables
No. Not even lottery! It never ever enters my mind to gamble. No religious or moral issues. I just don't have the "what if I win" mentality. Course not having a pot to piss in helps
I was a River gambler, I earned my money dealing cards. My clothes were smooth and honest, my heart was cold and dark, I was shuffling for some Delta boys on boat for New Orleans and I was the finest shark they'd ever seen. But the captain bumped a sandbar and an Ace fell down my sleeve, they threw me overboard as I swore I didn't cheat.. but I could swim.. and I rode again.
I gamble quite often. Not for money though. The small bets are usually paid off for a OG dew or monster energy drink. The medium bets are usually paid off as fast food, take out pizza ect. The big bets are paid for some sort of labor. A few big bets I lost I had to: Tear off three layered roof Oil change and wheel balance Watch Peyson(golden retriever)for a week. (Lol...I would've done for free) it was that or a bathroom plumbing job. A few big bets I won I got: A weekends worth of landscaping 200 amp electrical panel installed A days worth of tree/shrub pruning When we go to Vegas, it's all about the sights. No casino gaming.
