Do you agree that drug users..,

are more interesting to be around than people that prefer to be sober? Even people like me that gave up all hard drugs still don’t mind the company of drug users. Thoughts?

 

Depends on the drug and how deep they are into it. But the typical I've been to rehab and I feel so enlightened guy is so annoying. Often they replace one addiction with another by going to their silly meetings believing they are addicted forever. There is so much judgement when you want to say you know maybe I am not you. Some people can get high and handle it, guess you were not one. Genetics are funny.

Casual drug users (like cannabis smokers) can be a riot to be around, habitual ones.......well, that turns from funny to tragic pretty quickly!

 

The worst ones are the people who think that doing psychedelics turns them into spiritual figures who have special wisdom and insights that others cannot comprehend, and they look for anyone willing to accept their bullshit while angrily dismissing anyone who isn't impressed by it as 'mainstream' or 'closed-minded' or 'lost' or something.

I am thinking of a specific person here, but ultimately I do think it's a type and that it is a result of someone believing that the intensity of their psychedelic trip means that they are now better/smarter/more enlightened than everyone else, and end up glorifying their own drug use to themselves.

 

I just remembered that people can become different types of drunks when they drink. I had one friend that became a “serious drunk”; that was annoying.

 

yeah i really don't think there's a big difference. in theory, people that are willing to try new stuff are probably more interesting than people who are afraid to go against the grain. but then the most interesting people are probably the ones who try drugs and get over it, and move on to trying more new things, as opposed to those who try drugs and then just keep on using them habitually.

of course, the most interesting people don't always drink beer, but when they do they prefer dos equis.

I'm docile as hell on drugs you won't get in to trouble with me, unless you have long hair then I tend to run my hands through nice hair. And I might get touchy flirty. I know the types of people who are assholes on the gear and I'm glad that's not me.

Yeah, I try not to trust drug users (though I try not to trust anyone).

 

People who like weed and drink moderately are cool, and if they occasionally try other drugs that's okay. But the ones who have to stay lit all the time can be a pain in the ass. Not necessarily addicts but hardcore stoners. When they can't talk without babbling incoherently that's when I seek other company. The ones who can't hold a job because they're always stoned are especially irritating, they always want you to share your shit with them while they rarely if ever contribute anything. If you can't exercise a certain amount of self-control then you should avoid getting high altogether.

 

They may be "interesting" to hang out with, but they are a liability to themselves and everyone else.

 

I prefer reality... don’t get me wrong, I’ve had funny moments being drunk with friends (never been a drug user and I’m not judgmental about people who are)... but I’ve had far better and real conversations/moments when sober and with sober people... just my experience

 

Interesting people are interesting. Drugs can't make a person interesting, just entertaining. They can reduce the coherence of an interesting person.

I like drugs but if I go out partying/socialising then I prefer being sober, and feel I am better company sober. Drugs are for wandering around in the woods or staring at the sea.

 

I rather not be around drug users. The ones I know are always broke and want to 'borrow' money; if you give it to them you'll never see that money again.

 

The Smack head that caused my family so much anti social heartache that turned to terrorising wasn't interesting to be around.
He was a bit more amusing after i set upon him with a baseball bat but then i ended up in more trouble than he ever did.
I'll stick to people who like to toke.

 

I just don't like being around the talkers you know the ones that just talk shite non stop and it ceases to be fun? They can be drunks, stoners, trippers. There's always one of them. All of them with their own qwerks.
