Do Surfer Dudes Go Barefoot Everywhere?

I live where I see a fair share of surfer dudes. I seem them walking down the sidewalks barefoot as they carry their surfboards to and from the beach.

Got me to thinking that if any other sub culture would tend to go barefoot more than the general public it might be surfer dudes. Would that include going barefoot, like many of us do, anywhere and everywhere?

Have no idea why that question popped in my mind. Maybe there are surfers in the group who can offer insight.
