Actually, this is because red heads have a lesser threshold for pain. From the studies I've seen and heard, we're more sensitive to feel pain. Makes sense to me.

Some kind of chemistry going on in the body that I can't explain. They might not *need* more anesthesia per se, but they have a different threshold that is more prone to experiencing pain a little more acutely than the average person.
