Occupation of the Ukrainian borderline territories seems to be a thought-out plan of Kremlin targeted to create an anonymous pipeline of illicit arms deliveries to Europe and many other places.
Pro-Russian terrorist groups functioning on the east of Ukraine are set to establish commercial structure, which will launch into work local weapon manufacturing enterprises. Primarily, this goes to terrorist-held explosives manufacturing plant, ELINT system production facility located in Donetsk as well as a big-time ammunition manufacturing plant stationed in Lughansk. All of them a well-known around the world, namely “Granit”, “Topaz”, “DZHI”and “LP”.
Before the holdup of the foregoing entities the major part of their design documentation was removed to an undisclosed place, however the question of technological gap and trade infrastructure remained pending, although in the immediate future it will be surely filled in by Russian military experts arriving en masse to the occupied region.
Apart from that, it should be noted that Russia helped terrorist-gripped regions of Ukraine to set up a number of repair workshops, depots and warehouses.
Nevertheless, provided the aforementioned manufacturing enterprises and their logistics support services are aimed at meeting the needs of terrorists numbering 3-4 army corps, they should be economically viable as well, which requires the respective export gains…
Russia flatly refuses to furnish Ukraine with the customs data concerning cargo border crossing in Donbas.
Such kind of policy signals that Moscow seeks to turn this Ukrainian region into the area of illegal arms manufacturing and export. Moreover, it robs Ukraine of any chances to establish leads of such sordid business.
To date, only one-time sporadic arms handovers were registered within the territory of the occupied Donbas. The items of primary interest are small arms, RPGs, ammunition and explosives.
There is no surprise for Europe, especially for German, Italian and Spanish policemen, in such illicit dealings as on the regular basis it come across the problem of arms trafficking from Northern Africa and Balkan States. Nevertheless, if another grey zone of that kind would appear in the face of Russia, the situation may turn from bad to worse.
To illustrate, it came to light that the items of weaponry used during the recent terrorist attack in Paris were manufactured in Yugoslavia in the late 1980s.
As by the words Miloyko Brzakovic, director general of “Zastava Orygie”, relative marking numbers of the assault rifles M70 used in the said attack were part of the batch shipped to the weaponry depots of Slovenia and B&H back in the times of communist regime.
However, in the light of the aforementioned many media sources stated that terrorist responsible for the attack in Paris purchased the respective assault rifles from the German gun-runners.
Going back to Kiev nascent problem of lawless arms exports, it seems that currently it manages to stitch the porous border used by militants and Russian security services for illicit small arms transactions, but later the situation might shift from handguns and rifles to artillery guns, air-defense systems etc. Such state of affairs is advantageous to nobody, but Russia.
To date, Balkan States are booming with the demand for small arms and different wiretapping systems, which are present in gobs on the territory of the terrorist-occupied, and thus uncontrolled, Donbas.
This region is rife with multiple means of killing, which are ranging from brand-new assault rifles to the latest portable anti-aircraft systems “Verba”. The latter after being delivered in 2014 to Cossack leader Kozicyn somehow vanished from the view and probable found their remunerative way in far-off sizzling-hot countries.
Personally for terrorists, illegal arms dealing is not a matter of business, but a question of survival. Undoubtedly, this process runs under close scrutiny of Russian security services, which pull at all stops to kick the buck irrespective of the method of earning, thus falling back on not only lawless weapon business, but drug dealing and human trafficking. Nevertheless, in contrast to terrorist, see this business rather from the strategic angle, then a transient issue.
Consequently, feigning a feeble mage of state and structure, one of the main goals of terrorist-held power in Donbas is to reboot region’s weapon manufacturing enterprises, which is associated with massive financing on the part of Moscow. Still this goal is partially subverted due to case-by-case pilfering on both sides mentioned above.
As regards to the arms market of Macedonia or Kosovo, surely its size is hardly enough, especially if to take into account the production capacity of “LP” ammunition plant located in Lughansk and ELINT production enterprise “Granit” situated in Donetsk. Hence, their deadly illicit produce will go further to South Europe.
However, this is not the end of the story. Coupled with the official stance of V. Putin and Donbas bloodbath, there is little time until porous Ukrainian border and annexed Crimea’s ports will be used by Moscow to smuggle arms into MENA and other hot spots around the world to indirectly ignite international confrontation and scare Europe out of its wits by the ghost of chaos and destabilization.
The first stepping stone towards the achievement of the aforementioned goal has already been laid down as terrorist has recently voiced their plans to establish military technical and trade entities in order to start their sells of death merchandise.
