So the trash can isn't good? That's what I've always done.

What kind of batteries? Am I killing the world? Where should I take them???

The trashcan (=landfill) is no good. Call your local waste disposal company or Radio Shack and they should have a location for battery disposal.

designing batteries that don't have to be disposed of! or at the very least dissassembleable with a majority of their componenets recyclable.

    That would be cool. :)

So you mean like regular batteries that you use in your remote, or special batteries?? I don't want to show up at Radio Shack with a bunch of AA's when they only take special ones. I hate looking stupid. But most of the time, I just can't help it.

    1) Don't feel bad. You did the best that you could with the knowledge that you had. You are going to do the best that you can with the knowledge that you now have.

    2) Yes we are talking about any kind of batteries. AA's, C, NiCads anything (except perhaps auto and motorcycle batteries) even rechargables need to be taken care of when they don't take a charge any more.

    3) Designing a better battery has been a challange to engineers since the '50s.

You guys in the US have all these fancy things... like that thing for recycling batteries. Darn it, wish there was something like that here...
