    Has anyone here read the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett? Pratchett is probably the most brilliantly satirical and sardonic fantasy writer on the planet. My personal favourites are "The Fifth Elephant" and "Jingo".

    I'd love to hear everyone's take on his writing style and characters!

    Love him, a major influence on me.

    Small Gods is probably my favourite, and Night Watch always a winner.

    He is like dostoyevsky but with jokes.

    Perfectly familiar with the classic discworld series;
    favourites being 'Jingo' (oh, that passage about the curious squid!!!), 'The Colour Of Magic', 'Small Gods', 'Witches Abroad', 'Hogfather' and 'Reaperman', although I love all I've read by Terry Pratchett (including novels written outside of the discworld).

    I'm currently collecting them all. Of the discworld books, I only need like 4 to complete the set. once I have them all I'm going to re-read them all in order.

    Most of his books I've read more than once. My favorite is Going Postal but I really like all the ones featuring the Watch. Guards Guards, men at arms, feet of clay, Jingo, the fifth elephant, Night Watch, Thud, even The Truth and Monsterous regiment, just cause Sam Vimes is in it for a while. any scene that has Vimes and Vetinary is gold!

    I love Terry Pratchett, he is extremely clever and fun. Definitely one of my top favorite fantasy writers. Also, I find many fantasy novels with cookie-cutter archetypal characters and landscapes that follow the same plot lines. Pratchett seems from a different planet, Discworld is unique.
