Funny how people forget that the Talibans (practically the U.S. - backed mujhadin who fought the Russians) were former U S. allies.

But the situation is improving. I'm not sure why it isn't in the news today, but as I understand it talks are proceeding.
And the wind has changed. The reporting seems to note ongoing resistance which is contrasting the idea that there are planned talks.

But it also mentions something else; addressing the cause of the war. It seems to note discord or separatist Ukrainian Nationals.

That is a good sign that the priority is very humanitarian, and that both sides want the war to end.
