A nuke war will do no-one any good when everyone including the "red button pushers" perish.....will it ??
A wish from here: We can only hope that some of these 20, 30, 40, even 50 year old's, are enough 'aware of European history' to know what to expect of what's coming onto them. Films of the civilians in the 'London Blitz', with "Keep Calm and Carry On" and Poland would be appropriate now. But once the Internet and their cell phones go down, they're going to be 'babes-in-the-woods'. Where's a Churchill now when they need one, perhaps Zelensky?
Well, trying to compare Zelensky with Churchill or even wishing to compare them is like trying to compare whipped cream with whipped shit......no personal offence to the former of course.
Do you think the fascist CIA -backed provocation did the world any good ?.....since the beginning of the 20C , the CIA has been provoking and manipulating govts into war with each other
Which one was that? Are you suggesting that Cold War machinations are on a par with overt unprovoked fascist Russian military invasion--in Europe, of all places?
This thread is going downhill rapidly. So I'm out. But one last shot. "...A nuke war will do no-one any good when everyone including the "red button pushers" perish...." The concept of 'Mutually Assured Destruction' from the cold war, still exists. It will not come to that. I'm outa here.
I am not fond of Putin myself, whom I see as a mediocre statesman and excellent politician with an hawkish air around him, cleverly exploiting the insecurities of Russians upon the encroaching U.S-Nato alliance. It was the Russians themselves who deposed of Napoleon's dictatorship, ended feudalism and created the russian republic, ended the Nazi war machine permanently, and deposed off the communist hardliner coup in favor of democracy. Left alone by the U.S.-Nato, similarly the russians will soon get tired of Putin and get rid off him from office as well. Last year, the independent Russian newspaper Novaya gazeta, and Maria Ressa of the Filipino news website Rappler won the Nobel peace award “for their efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace,” the Norwegian Nobel Committee said when announcing the prize in 2021. I think, given proper space and time, democracy and freedom has a better chance of evolving to their full potential in Russia than in the U.S. and Europe, where plutocratic entities dictate government policies under the guise of democracy.
Zelinsky seems to be doing a remarkable job of standing up to the Russian bully--far better than I'd expect from any of our politicians, especially the Quisling Putin lovin' Trump and his MAGA cronies.
After the recent defeat and retreat of U.S.-Nato forces at the hands of the Taliban , U.S.- Nato forces now find themselves in a new misadventure in Ukraine-Russia. The two decade war in Afghanistan cost over three trillion dollars of taxpayer money, much of it landing in the pockets of corrupt western contractors and afghan officials, while a large number of abandoned weapon systems of vehicles and copters and guns are now flaunted as war trophies by the taliban. Afghan-Nato casualties include 3576 dead and 22773 wounded soldiers. This should also be viewed in perspective of the recent invasion of Iraq which similarly cost heavily financially and casualty-wise, without any worthwhile result due to the spawning of the ISIS which regressed Iraq to the middle ages. A humanitarian crisis is also developing in afghanistan as many afghan civilians who had cooperated with U.S-NATO forces, are now in the run from the inevitable Taliban backlash and requires support. Instead of providing the necessary logistical and financial support to these Afghan refugees so as to restore their credibility, the U.S. and NATO seems to be embarking on a new misadventure without prior calculation and thought. Attempting to bring NATO to the very borders of Russia (with a past history of tragedies in its border areas) seems to have destabilised the region and one wonders why international politicians are not capable of thinking outside the box or see the bigger picture, and bringing instability instead of fostering harmony, leading to squandering of valuable resources needed elsewhere. Hopefully sane thinking will prevail which is necessary for creating order out of chaos.
