Well I'm big on the Bible because there are facts written in it's prophecies that I see have been fulfilled, and are being fulfilled that I can not ignore. And since I'm big on facts, it would be a waste of your time to try and get me to believe in myths, that some try to pass on as science. When the Bible tells us that in the latter days the Jews will return to Israel and retake Jerusalem and will be surrounded by enemies and it happens then the Bible has my attention. When the Bible tells me that a porch Gate is going to be added to the Old East gate in Jerusalem and that Gate will be sealed and no one will be able to open it, and all attempts to do so will fail until God returns and opens it Himself, and we have a sealed East Gate in Jerusalem today and all attempts have failed to open it, then again the Bible has my attention. Maybe you can ignore all of this and all the other prophecies, but I can't.
Just to say something is true doesnt make it so, yet unlike Evolution that stands alone on a foundation that has some serious problems. The Bible has a great deal of supporting evidence which can be point to, and that evidence can give us confidence that the rest of the information written there in, is accurate as well.
God created SATAN, and like humans Satan had free will to do good, or evil. Satan choose to do evil, and his choice was to rebel against God. It all comes down to freedom of choice, and free will. Even today, God has given mankind a choice to accept His Son, and live for Him, or reject Him. Again, it is a choice we will all make. Choose wisely.
We each confirmed the same point: Circular reasoning is circular reasoning, no matter what you apply it to. Evolution and Christianity certainly aren't the only two plugins that could go in your statement setup.
Yes, but as I stated before, even if it is circular reasoning, if that reasoning is built on a foundation that has been tested and passed that test, then we can have confidence that other facts can be believed as well. Evolution unlike the Bible is fluid and has to be changed to keep up with other facts that often over shadow the Theory. The Bible is just the oppsite, as time moves on, new facts only support the Bible, and show it to be both true and accurate.
JDFU...studies of Biblical history, archaeology, and so on are ongoing processes, just like all other processes in science and scholarship. Discoveries that apparently validate events in the Bible aren't of necessity 100%, 90%, 50%, or even 10% accurate, and are subject to the same standards of scientific and scholarly judgment and revision as those those that apparently lend further credence to evolutionary theory. Circular reasoning isn't an effective way to argue if you are trying to influence people outside of your particular area of thought...if you're using this means to argue to a wide audience for the ultimate truth of Christianity and Biblical creationism, you're doing no better than the Big-Bang Primordial-Soup Evolution fundamentalists that you oppose.
Oddly enough, too many people have put a spin on the evolutionism of evolutionism to suggest this is its strength. No. As you did a good job explaining already - Its the unchanging Biblical accounts that have the strict standard to go by. This is why it can 'stand to reason' in the first place. Evolutionism for example doesnt have these standards to keep up with. It can change, drop, morph, add, lose and gain to its story whenever it needs to. Dinosaurs bones display soft-tissue now? Well then the story changes, T-Rex lived up till 5,000 years ago, simply redo some hypothetical charts and then take credit as if its part of 'your science' anyways. but you said it best up there JDFU.
well, this is a late post. but there are alot of christians, catholics, and mormons that all tell me dinosaurs never existed because the bible existed. it blows my mind how stupid and ignorant religious people can be.
Science is usually fluid because it is the constant pursuit of information and truth. The bible is not that. If you accept it as truth, it is only on blind faith. Only your mind says it is truth, not objective reality. You like it because it is stable, whether or not it is true. Find be a biologist/evolutionist who says that TRex lived 5000 years ago, and I will slap them for being stupid. Soft tissue was just an unexpected preservation. That's all. No paradigms changed..
This is nonsense. Faith in the Bible is the result of objective evidence and it has the highest standard in that its a series of claims which are subject to objective reason and investigation. Let me give you a basic example so you know what Im talking about: I have a manuscript that claims a real person living in a real time was sent to death by a real Pontius Pilate. It names his position in government, where he was, and what he said. Ok. So I have OBJECTIVE evidence that I can look for... and in this case we might have an archeaologist who digs up nice things written in stone about Pilate. We can determine through objective evidence certain things that this is a real person, real place, real office and in the times given etc. OK SO NOW..... This is why I can have 'faith' that Pilate did indeed say and do the things the Gospel writers claim. The 'leap of faith' is is 'off of' objective evidence first. In fact, Im happy to turn this around - you try and believe that Jesus and Pilate did not meet as recorded and you will have to base THAT on 'blind faith' Back to Evolutionism - what you have there is a story that lazily gets to change to fit the objective evidence and then change itself when another fact gets in the way of that rewrite. As more and more decades of Fossil evidence accumulate and we eventually get to a point where there is just no more room left for stories of 'slow incremental changes'.... BING! The story is 'retold' so that now it has animals that suddenly just changed quickly. 'Hopeful Monsters' or 'Puncuated Equalibrium'. This allows the Evofundie to come back (after the fact and rewrite) and say "No.. same 'paradigm' and SEE... our new story DOES fit the facts again" Here is the real problem... A theory should start to 'come together' and after a few centuries and a gazillion man hours of research, constant discovery of evidence... you should see something start to GEL, to become unified, to start answering more questions than it raises. WOW.. the very opposite is happening with that deadass 'theory' which just gets broader, more fragmented, has more questions and problems ever damn day and has lost so many pillars and posts it only exists now by propaganda and a public that doesnt know any better. Meanwhile, the Bible is falsifiable, doesnt not get the lazy advantage of being able to change and sits back watching claim after claim VALIDATED by Objective evidence, research and archeaology.
Well speaking as a Christian, I believe dinosaurs did exist, and I believe the Bible speaks of them. Just the fossil evidence alone should be enought to make one a believer in dinosaurs.
Just seemed appropriate for this topic: 50 Million year old 'prehistoric' Shark found alive and well off the coast of Japan. Yep, this is another critter found fossilised and thought to have existed '50 Million years ago'. Of course you are asked to believe that in this entire time the earth has gone through astonishing changes, apes were morphing into humans, dinosaurs were turning into (lmao) birds. but, No, this shark just stayed exactly the same, none of the 'billions' of genetic mutations for this guy! And as we have said before, what do we do with this 'living fossil' if we are evolutionists? We just say that it must have stopped evolving 50 million years ago and stayed the same ever since. http://cbs5.com/watercooler/local_story_024183117.html or http://www.kltv.com/Global/story.asp?S=5984316
