    A space-time crystal

Time crystals have been studied for a little over a decade maybe, but this is the first macroscopic room temperature one synthesized. In the article, they don't even speculate on exactly what it might be used for, but it could possibly be used for antigravity in the future, and the list of possible bizarre applications is too much to dwell upon. These crystals are like something out Star Trek, substituting time for space, or for flaws in the crystal's geometry. Along with advances in creating room temperature superconductors and Josephson's Junctions, Star Trek is coming within ten to twenty years tops.

Basically, physicists discovered radioactivity and quantum mechanics a century ago, it required fifty years to even begin to get a handle on the mathematics, then another fifty years to start to put together models of how matter actually works, and now all that research is coming together, as they figure out all the more basic ways you can manipulate matter and energy. NASA already has a crude Star Trek style warp drive engine, that works, and can be used to generate a Star Gate, and intends to build a spaceship in another fifty years, give or take.

  2. Sorry but I have to go reconfigure the phase angle on my warp drive matrix.

NASA's warp drive engine is made with ordinary piezo electric crystals, that would shatter!
