Yeah, different people can definitely get along. I was friends with this Muslim girl. Technically I'm Orthodox, but I'm not religious, so we were very different, and had different mentalities.
However, I found her views interesting (even if I disagreed with many of them), and usually we just talked about something else.

 

Im currently vacationing for 2 days in a condo with a Obama-loving liberal. She hates anything religious, and was completely disrespectful of all those within any belief. I had enough of it and we debated for nearly 2 hours about a string of subjects, starting with religious symbols, to taxes, to social services, to spending cuts, to wars, to military, to regulations, to abortion, and on and on. We each thought the other was ridiculous at times, and at a few moments I wanted to jump across the table and choke her. But here we are this morning, my last day here, enjoying coffee and talking about gardens. So yes, we can get along.
