Absolutely right.--And I'll add Americans in particular started to get heavier about the time all these "diet" foods became popular. The average American is 20 pounds heavier than they were 20 years ago.

Going a little off topic, but I just wanted to comment about the drug companies(in particular US drug companies) and the FDA.--- --Ask any expert chemist, pharmacist etc. and they will tell you most of the best, real effective medications were developed over 30 years ago.In many cases over 50 years ago.And many cures or 'real' effective treatments were NOT developed by drug companies.------Heres one example of hundreds,Polio was CURED by 2 dedicated, brilliant doctors working together. It was NOT patented to any drug company. ---If Polio was around today, the drug companies would come out with something that just "manages" the symptoms, with alot of side effects--at best, and that would be after 20 years of "developing the drug".-----And since Americas drug companies are relied on worldwide--they have become a worldwide problem.

It's more like a gallon in an hour. I drank a quart in an hour once and started to get a wicked headache. I started to freak out, because I thought I had given myself water intoxication and my brain was going to explode, lol. Good times with my old friend hypochondria. :p

BTW,most people already know this, but when "coca-cola" first came out it had a small amount of coca leaves in it.They might as well go back to putting coca leaves back in ,at least people got a real nice "kick" out of drinking it and no doubt the small amount of coca leaves in the drink was healthier than aspertame or any of the other junk they put in alot food and drink.

Okay dude, lets not act all high and mighty. Do you have a source for every single little tid bit of info you provide? Especially on the spot?

Yah, I probably did get that bit of info from SOME source, but who in their right mind remembers the source of ALL the info they get?? Most people have a hard enough time remembering the info as is.

I can see how it came across. That was not my intention. Sorry.

It sounded like: Got a source for that, NO, well then screw you i'll look for it myself.

When I meant: I'd be interested to know more about that, but don't worry too much about looking it up, I have some free time, I'll do it myself".

    A subtle difference in tone...

Sad to say, most of the time, yes.

That is why I said: Never mind, i'll try and look it up.

Weirdly it took me less than 30 seconds...and it was on the top of the bloody page.

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=soda+immune+system+&meta=&aq=f&oq=

The white blood cells need vitamin C to fight of infection, and both vitamin C and glucose use the same “entry portals” to get into the white blood cells. If your body is over-flowing with sugar, you are bound to have more glucose entering into your blood cells than vitamin C, and not helping your immune system fight off bacteria. In fact, the body’s ability to fight off infection is reduced by at least 50% for around five hours, just by ingesting the amount of sugar in 24 oz. of soda. That’s a huge risk on the body, and especially if included in the daily diet. If the body is comstantly in a reduced state of immunity, the risk of illness increases greatly. But there is a balance to everything, and certainly to the body’s ability to fight off infection. Finding your body’s balance, while maintaining a healthy diet, will provide your immune system with the best defense against infection, and a better quality of life.

Me found something from some people with book learnin'

Aspartame: a safety evaluation based on current use levels, regulations, and toxicological and epidemiological studies.

Magnuson BA, Burdock GA, Doull J, Kroes RM, Marsh GM, Pariza MW, Spencer PS, Waddell WJ, Walker R, Williams GM.
    Burdock Group, Washington, DC, USA.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/...nel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum

Acute, subacute and chronic toxicity studies with aspartame, and its decomposition products, conducted in mice, rats, hamsters and dogs have consistently found no adverse effect of aspartame with doses up to at least 4000 mg/kg bw/day. Critical review of all carcinogenicity studies conducted on aspartame found no credible evidence that aspartame is carcinogenic. The data from the extensive investigations into the possibility of neurotoxic effects of aspartame, in general, do not support the hypothesis that aspartame in the human diet will affect nervous system function, learning or behavior. Epidemiological studies on aspartame include several case-control studies and one well-conducted prospective epidemiological study with a large cohort, in which the consumption of aspartame was measured. The studies provide no evidence to support an association between aspartame and cancer in any tissue. The weight of existing evidence is that aspartame is safe at current levels of consumption as a nonnutritive sweetener.

Odon - for the most part I like you. You are a respectful and respectable person. I can appreciate the fact that you actually look into things first, instead of simply attacking and calling names, as some people do. However, I tend to lose respect for you sometimes because you are always very much eager to dig up only the information that supports what you want to believe, and it just so happens that most of this information comes from sources that most often lie and stand the most to gain from the truth NOT being known, which are always driven by money and/or politics.

Now as far as what Carl said about soda and immunity, this is true, primarily with regular soda that cointains high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup inhibits the absorbtion of vitamin C into white blood cells, and of course white blood cells prevent infection.

This of course is the short answer. If you want more information, you will have to do the research yourself.

Now as far as the dangers of aspartame, there have been a number of studies proving everything I have said, which is one of the reasons it took so long to get approved, only with the help of former JD Searle President and CEO Donald Rumsfeld. I never said that Rumsfeld approved it himself, but he made sure the right people were put into the right positions, with connections to JD Searle, so that it would be approved.

For every truth, there will no doubt be people with an ulterior motive looking to "debunk" that truth, usually because they have a lot to lose with the truth being known. Now you can source your official, corporate-sponsored government sources until you are blue in the face. I have read it all already and it means little to me, mostly because it is all lies and disinformation. I am much more likely to believe independent doctors and researchers, as well as those who have experienced the debilitating effects of aspartame first hand, than some empty suits at the FDA, who also say that melamine is safe for babies.

If you want some truthful, unbiased information on the dangers of aspartame, look into the research of Dr. Russell Blaylock, or watch the documentary Sweet Misery on Google Video.

I read somewhere about a woman who's doing time in prison for poisoning her husband, but it was aspartame poisoning that got him because of the mass amounts of diet drinks he consumed. I can't remember for the life of me where I read it, but I believe it, knowing the way that shit makes me feel. And it's sad because I love Fresca, but it's artificially sweetened, so it makes me sick. :(
