    All day erryday brah :2thumbsup:

And I really respect what you do and know as far as your diet, I just can't handle something like that right now. The time and focus really.

And I don't get hungry often or even pay attention to it very much if I am hungry. I mainly eat based on my my energy level, muscle strength and in general how I feel apart from the hunger feeling. Definitely also eat for various cravings at times. But for the most part I strictly look at it as fuel. I wish I could eat a better diet, however I always have to eat a lot of meat, going back to that energy thing.

For as bad I eat and how much I drink it doesn't really hurt me. At least outward appearance - I have a slight beer gut but nothing major. I'm sure I could cut that off completely if I started running again, eating better, and drinking less beer. It's just hard with how busy I am, and most days when I get home my entire body aches and tingles. But in turn I'm strong as fuck and most of my weight is muscle by far. No way I could eat the way I do if I sat at a desk all day. How tall are you Rat? I'm 6'1 and right now 220-230. But I'm also way more strong now and get told I look really healthy. When I was 175 my mom asked me if I was smoking meth. I was like wtf mom??

Anyway I don't know the answer. I just know that if I eat a 'healthy' meal like a few of my exes would cook. Stuff like squash and zucchini, potatoes and some tiny grilled chicken breast.. I feel like that doesn't give me enough fuel with how much I stress my body daily.

I wasn't trying to preach to you or anything like that, and not everything in that post was directed at you specifically.

To answer your question, I am right around 5'9''.

I'm not sure if somebody edited my post or what. But I had typed that when I was younger and smoked weed all day and ran regularly I was in the 170s. Basically what I'm getting at is I was too weak.

5'9 and 170 is probably a good ratio right? What's the ideal weight for 6'1?

If there is any such thing as a miracle food, it would have to be coconut oil. I feel like I could write a book on it alone at this point.

That's awesome! Good for you, Mama. Were you heavy most of your life? I was super skinny for most of my life, up until around the time I was about 21 or 22, when I was overtaken by depression and had pretty much given up on myself. I was eating fast food and drinking alcohol almost everyday. I never got much flack from people IRL, but several people on these forums gave me crap about my weight, and I am glad they did, because it was one of the many motivating factors for my decision to lose the weight. But the decision was mostly because I didn't like the way I looked (and felt).

Not simplistic if it is true.

PR and a lot of americans will make jokes about Comrade Obama on the healthcare thing. The poorest 50 million americans with no healthcare, who will still clog emergency rooms and free services, that the government, thus everyone pays for anyway. Sounds scary, cos 50 million, if they suddenly start paying for that, ouch thats going to hurt.

But if you look at the breakdown of what they are actually spending money on, not just the US, the NHS in the UK, places like Canada and Aus/NZ.

Pallative/Critical care usually the most expensive, some operations far more expensive than others. Pretty much all of the most expensive operations have to do with diseases of the intestinal tract or circulatory system.

That is, age, diet and exercise will always come before everything else. even alcohol and tobacco come in 4th and 5th, and at a cost well below those first three.

So all of a sudden 50 million extra americans suddenly in the system, everyone kind of pays for in part at least....everyone worrying about that, when 3/4 of them wont really cost that much extra......whereas at the same time over the next couple decades, around the same amount or more 50-100 million extra americans older than 60, 50-100 million other americans fatter than ever before...costing the system up to 100 times more than most of those 50 million Obama was trying to bring into the fold

Its not simplistic, cos its true, not very PC, but it is old farts and fat bastards that are doing all the damage, and its not like all that funding is infinite, it does translate to less resources for the young, more kids dying as a result.

Old farts and fat bastards kill kids

Thanks rat. Yeah, I was chunky my whole life. Both my parents (especially my dad) grew up very poor. They raised us very indulgent, food included, because of it. I get people on here calling me fat on a regular basis. I'm honestly at a point in my life where I'm 100% happy with how I look, so for the most part I just disregard the negative comments. Also, good for you for turning your life around. It's hard shit for sure.

What is a healthy way to gain weight? I need to gain weight but I don't really like the feeling of being really full and I am really committed to being healthy. This is the kind of question that seems to piss people off, but I find myself really unattractive because I am so thin. Also, I am climbing a couple mountains next summer and I have to carry a 70 pound pack so some extra weight to help with that might be good.

I'd eat a lot of steak and chicken, potatoes, fried stuff. And you have to get really full.

Ironically, many of the foods people who are overweight eat to lose weight can also help people who are underweight gain weight, so I would recommend coconut oil, MCT oil, avocados, chicken/beef, etc. You might also want to invest in a good whey protein powder.

I was actually going to recommend avocados as well. Look for nutrient dense/high protein stuff. You can research different body building meal plans geared toward bulking as well.

I am actually really allergic to whey and also to soy and I don't eat meat. That probably complicates things :D

I should eat more avocados though!

Any kind of protein powder will do. Hemp powder will work, too.

I also forgot to mention nuts... macadamia nuts, pecans, almonds, cashews, etc.

I always forget about hemp... which doesn't really make any sense considering what I do for a living most of the year.

Peanut butter is so good, and it's really filling and energy producing to me. I eat giant scoops of it out of the jar.

I add it to my protein shakes after practice. It perks me up fast when I feel like I'm about to pass out.

Yeah, if I'm ever super hungry and no food to cook.. a couple scoops of that and I'm good to go.

Anti, I'm not sure if you can realistically bulk up without eating animal proteins. Every vegan/vegetarian I know are either just naturally stocky or curvy - or very thin, almost sickly looking.
