i remember when my dad told me that he did drugs at university, i was shocked:eek: . i was like "my dad has done drugs, he's a druggie, he'll end up on the streets, he'll go crazy, he'll kill my whole family cos he's on drugs".

but then i got to 15 and thought "fuck it" so i tried weed and now i see why so many people do it.

I used to think weed was bad because that's what I was always told. But I always wanted to try it at least once, so I tried it and I've been stoned ever since. Now, if I had the choice to have weed or pussy everyday for the rest of my life, I would choose weed. I would still be able to get my dick sucked, just no pussy. Thankfully, I'll never have to make that choice.

marijuana is hallucinogenic because it heightens sense of hearing, taste and makes you see lights more

When "Meet the Parents" first came out, the one scene where robert de niro finds his sons miarjuana pipe, and says to ben stiller "this is a device used for smoking marijuana"...i remember thinking marijuana must the be the hardest drug. The peice looked so foreign.. i practically equated marijuana with heroin :p

I always knew that one day I would try smoking pot, but when I was younger I assumed that I'd just do it once to "see what it felt like". Heh... well here I am, having been smoking semi-regularly for 3 1/2 years! Pot is not the evil hallucinogenic violent crime-causing thing we were taught, that's for sure.

I had no idea what marijuana was until I was in the D.A.R.E. program. I used to think that my D.A.R.E. workbook was the ultimate authority on drugs, until I stumbled upon the NORML website...but that's a different story. After two years of D.A.R.E., and three years of research I'm proud to call myself a stoner!

Same with me, I always thought drugs were "bad", I was a classic DARE kid. Hell, I even won the essay contest at the end of the year, and had to give a speech on how drugs were so negative.

But then, in 8th grade, my cousin moved here from California, and it was fall time, so we went to the backyard and had a bonfire... it was just me and him, then I decided I wanted to try it JUST once to see how it was... just out of curiousity... then I just found that drugs couldnt negativly impact my life and my goals I have always wanted to achive, and plus.. it was fun! =) so here I am

I go on Erowid and read about drugs when I'm bored and have nothing else to do. Is that bad?

I used to think that weed was the absolute worst drug ever. i remember saying and promising myself that i would never ever "do" weed. and thats all changed now. i LOVE weed . im high right now. it just gives you a completely different perspective on life. i like the way i think now. when i was around 5 i used to look at people my age and be like woah. if i saw me when i was 5 i would have thought i was "one of those really bad teenagers". haha

i used to be super anti drugs, supressing any of my curiousity. i was a brainwashed republican christian that was a mammas boy. i went through dare in fifth grade and got the impression that

    1) drugs will kill u immediately or sling u down a unreversable road to a horrible life that is spent grasping from one shallow drug induced thrill to the next shallow, drug induced thrill.

    2) only people who whipe their asses with fifty dollar bills can afford drugs

    3) drug use in the sixties is responsible for everything that is wrong today

lol after the 04 elections i got burnt out on being good and kinda became apolitical but still religious...then i started saying fuck that started smoking tobacco drinking then smoking pot and now i think it's quite comical how brainwashed and foolish i once was.

Me too!!, I remember not really giving a fuck in 6th grade, but when we started Dare, I was getting interested in drug culture, and The Dare officer called me a Stoner once, because I was wearing an AC/DC t-shirt......

until a year ago I thought DARE actually stood for drugs are really expensive, but in my health period when the teacher would talk about drugs, I would laugh and argue with them on MJ's defense.

haha when i was a kid i actually told my mom to never let me do drugs because DARE convinced me that when i got older i would for sure do them and my life would amount to nothing.

Did I ever have a negetive attitude towards weed? Hmm. Hard to say. I knew my dad used to smoke until I was a year or so old, and he was doing fine. I wasn't ever very informed about such things as a kid (catholic school, and just generally sheltered I guess), so I basically just lumped "drugs" all together as bad (along with tobacco and maybe alcohol...but not as much). I remember the "brain on drugs" egg commercial but I can't remember ever really taking it THAT seriously.

But I do remember during the DARE classes thinking how dumb all this is, and me and my friends drawing joints on the pictures in the workbook so the cartoons looked like they were toking. I also seemed to get more interested in drugs after DARE, but only subconsciously till much later. Once I got a little older I don't recall ever being too negetive. This one kid that sat next to me in World History in 11th grade always came in high, which on one lever bothered me (still does) but it was funny and he was a cool guy...so were most of the other stoners, they all seemed funnier and cooler (even though half the time I didn't even know they were stoners till later).

I agree that EROWID is a great site, very important and helpful.

Also, we should all email that stupid bitch who wrote all that dumb stuff about weed, like so:

"Dear lady. Thank you for your informative essay! I also used to smoke the marijuana weed, but after I killed my mother and baby sister in a stoned rage, i realized the error of my ways. Now I only use the safely legal tobacco and alcohol, and it's changed my life so much for the better! Thank you for informing everyone of the dangers of the wacky tobaccy"
