This thread is homage to Andy Rooney who died in 2011 at the ripe old age of 92. He was the guy at the end of each 60 Minutes broadcast who would point out some human folly and lead off his rant with the words "Did you ever notice...?" So let's honor him with some new bits about life that you might've noticed...
Did you ever notice they often serve you nasty, unfiltered tap water in restaurants even expensive ones? This is to make you buy bottled water at an outrageous price or alcohol or soft drink. Here in Mexico every restaurant provides filtered water that tastes great. I won't patronize any place that puts profit over the desire or need of their customers. I don't always want alcohol, never have soft drinks, and refuse to pay $8 or more for a bottle of water! Restaurants are getting ridiculous as is the service these days in the US.
That or they are just too lazy to change the water filter on the machine. Certain times of the year the city water tastes like pool water. A simple carbon filter works wonders. Who would believe that 50 years ago we would be paying for water in a bottle... Andy, you could have practically braided his eyebrows.
Did you ever notice how when you're trippin' out (on acid), your understanding of time evaporates? You can look at a clock, note the numbers on it, but it ceases to have any meaning in that moment. You realize that Time, that human construct, isn't real, especially since it's all relative. Also when you're tripping, you can suddenly stop, like in a doorway, and lose all sense of where you are going or why. Should I leave this room, or go back in? Does it make a difference where I am? If you've experienced this, you definitely were trippin' or you need to see a doc.
Time definitely gets weird for me on weed. Cooking really messes with me. Now, I don't typically cook intoxicated, as making good food requires one to be present, but reheating something in the oven? That I'll do. So I'll slide something into the oven, set the timer for 45 minutes, go off and do whatever, and then, an hour later, panic because the timer never went off. Then I come back into the kitchen to see I still have another 42 minutes to go. Minutes become hours I tell ya!
Oh, yeah, time distortion on cannabis surely happens. And why? Because it fucks with your short term memory! I just wrote a long post on that concerning how short term memory is involved in remembering dreams. Likewise short term memory clearing is essential to a good nites sleep.
