Although I did not agree with most of what Pauline Hanson had to say, when One Nation won a number of seats in the 1998 Queensland state election they did seem to make some people in high places sit up and take notice. Shortly afterwards there was an entire week on ABC's LateLine program. I can never remember the ever doing this. We also got the Bush Telegraph program on Radio National afterwards. At the time I remember there was a sense of abandonment not just by government but business as well.

Replaced by the big Palm(er). Now, is that a joke or just too mad to be funny ?

Well in the bush there was very much a feeling of being abandoned by people in power. An example would be when at a Victorian sate election the coalition lost Benalla -ne of their safest seats- to the ALP.

I would not vote for Clive Palmer's UAP because I sent them an email well before the election that was not answered.
