Maybe you could set up a channel so people can submit their own videos our their journeys without wax and stuff?

you are now officially one of my myspace friends :p

Did you know you're on my hubby-type's list? I don't know how I missed you :)

for now I have to go do mommy things, but I'll see what else I can come up with and we can talk about it some more.

This is an open invitation to anyone else out there interested to share any thoughts on the matter. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing here! [IMG]

That sounds like a great idea. There are a few videos on youtube of (mostly) guys showing off their natural locking process, but not nearly enough....not when you see the overdone knotty boy salon lady in the related links.

Yea it would be cool to have them all in one place, then if someone is interesting in getting locks people can direct them to that channel. Oh and invite people to start dready vblogs!
    Oo this is very exciting

The problem is that people who are looking for information on dreads type in "dreadlocks" in a search engine, and KnottyBoy and DreadHeadHQ are some of the first links to pop up. And the people don't know any better, so they believe what those sites say about backcombing and using wax. And then this site, Knotty Locks, and other sites are left to correct the problems.:sigh: life would be so much easier without KB and DHHQ...lol

got dread head hq stuff...it was terrible. my head was like a load of candles. I combed them all out and went natural this time. just backcombed...then i'll let 'em do their thing!

I used Dread Head HQ stuff when I got my dreads, but thankfully I didn't use much wax, or that spray on chemical thing.

I did have to comb them out, just because I didn't like the way they came out, but I don't know if that was HQ's fault, or just my technique.

How in the world did you guys just comb it out? I have a dread that I would really like to undo- and redo as two separate dreads, but it refuses to come undone. was it conditioner and detangler spray?

I ordered the Supa Dupa Poopah dreadhead kit. Thankfully I found this site before I put the wax in my hair. I think that my backcombing would have been better had I not used the lock peppa, and the side I did use it on is looser than the side I didn't, though it did cut down time in the backcombing to use the peppa.

I picked up some organic sea salt this weekend, dumped out the lock accelerator, and tossed some fresh squeezed lemon, sea salt, and water into the spray bottle. Smells great, and feels much better. (I'm also not worried about getting it on my scalp.)

I'll keep the shampoo and the comb (works great to get the knots out of my 7yo's hair), but the wax and peppa will go in the garage sale next week. Also, they say the rubberband in the kit do not pull your hair out. I have a pile of rubberbands with hair in them that say different.

I was thinking about people who use wax to spike their hair out, but you might have a point. Then they might google dreadhead and I will see then at the grocery mart (small town) with their candles. Ouch.
