We're fucked because the idiot public thinks they're going to vote change by voting in one of the candidates they give you to vote for. As long as people don't wake up and realize there is no difference between the two parties and the candidates they give you, nothing will change and we will be screwed. You just cannot seem to grasp the fact that there is almost NO DIFFERENCE between Hillary and McCain -- NONE!!! If anyone has seen the movie Network, this is what needs to happen -- people need to get mad as hell!!!
even if people got "Mad as hell" what would that really do. It would take the bulk of the nation to get armed with guns and take out the trash thats stinking the place up. Which is frowned upon these days.
The democrats have proposals for healthcare and financial aid which will benefit me. They want to allow stem cell research and increase money for scientific funding. They want to approach China on the devaluing of the Yuan. They want civil unions to have the benifits of marriage, they want leniency on some crimes and to focus on rehabilitation, they want to put more money into education and into research into alternative fuels. Obama has always been against the Iraq war. McCains politics on all of these are counter to Obamas, so yes Mr Rat, I see several important differences. Whilst I am supporting a canidate who's party I don't fully endorse, I would rather have it then the alternative. Unless you're right out now calling for a violent revolution, all you are is a malcontent.
Wekk the problem with violent revolutions is a lot of apolitical people seem to get murdered in the crossfire. And at the very least if you dont care about politics, you should avoid getting shot in someone else political brawl.
Ok. So you want China to devalue the Yuan because they can fund their industry and infrastructure with that Yuan and the precious speculative value of the dollar looks like it might collapse. And then if the dollar collapses there will be no money for your healthcare, financial aid, etc. Actually, people talk about Iraq a lot. But the most important development for the well-being of this country is in fact what you said: devalue the Yuan. Because those motherfuckers are sure going to cause trouble in about 50 years. P.S. I don't see how the lesser of two evils ideology has benefited you in the last two decades, lode. But knock yourself out.
the scene in Network where Faye Dunaway talks about the show the whole time she's getting screwed is one of my favorite sex scenes. to me she's always seemed like a classic Hollywood actress who arrived a couple decades late.
They are going to approach the Chinese on the devaluing of the Yuan?? How about the devaluing of the dollar? What are they going to do about the Federal Reserve creating artificially low interest rates that are destroying the dollar, as they continue to print fiat money out of thin air? And yeah, I am sure this "scientific funding" will do a lot to make the medical-industrial complex a lot richer, but are we going to see a cure for cancer or an improvement in people's quality of life? Don't bet on it. The people who run this system are eugenicists. The last thing they want is to cure diseases that do so much to keep the population levels down. And I guess socialized medicine is good... if you like waiting 18 months to have a brain tumor removed, or you like not having any say in the type of treatment you receive. If you believe that big-pharma and government bureaucrats know what's best for you, then I can see how one might embrace the idea of socialized medicine.
Like I don't even know what your agenda is pressed rat. You've mentioned that your interest is prophesising doom. You almost never get into the nuances of an issue. I'm not overwhelmingly content with our government either. I want change, but I've yet to see something that would make me mad enough to revolt. I'm sure I would be if I believed what you do. But I don't. So I'm going to look for the best I have within my scope of opportunities. What steps have you prepared for the dark ages you predict? Do you have a handgun and a motorcycle?
Obama's spoken of it. Yeah, the old George Bush 'ask a canadian' line. But most of the Canadians I know like their healthcare, and are treated timely and affordably, which is not something I can say for a lot of Americans. And their all covered, unlike many Americans who don't have this wonderful choice that the market approach of depending on big pharma for health care has provided. I do think the medical industry would be better to provide for my health then a crystal healer. And all disease isn't that simple.
it doesn't have to be a violent revolution, just a revolution. politics are fucked. there must be a better option.
It's pegged. "Devalued" means, they've got things to sell and the U.S. doesn't. It also means that with a pegged value they can engage in long-term infrastructural projects. You're right, I meant to say, floated. But you know what? The U.S. might do better for its population as a secondary power rather than a hegemon. Just look at post-WWII Europe.
I am certainly no fan of health care in America, but it's a fact that many Canadians come here for major surgeries. The Canadian health care system is good for if you fall off a ladder and break your leg, or you cut yourself on a piece of glass or something and you need stitches. It's quite a different story if you have liver or pancreatic cancer, and you need surgery to remove the cancer, not having to wait months on end.
I'll keep that in mind. it would take a lot of thinking to figure something out that would truly work, but I don't think a few well-intentioned people would need a lot of time to think of something that would work better than what is currently in place. the problem with politics and government is that all the people with the power to do something good are jaded assholes with twisted views, and if they're not, they will be by the time they're in a place to do something of benefit.
